He's there! The Phantom of the Opera!! Now I know what some of you may be asking "Earlene there's a Phantom behind you, how do you plan on keeping your composure?!" To answer that : That's Scott in a Phantom mask that i bought in New Zealand, I'm not too worried. So that's the dress that i wore. And Jen if you are reading this, i didn't wreck the bridesmaid dress, dont' worry.
Down Once More to the dungeon of...the Bay? i don't get it. I will explain. The majority of mine and Scott's day was spent at West Edmonton Mall shopping around and since we had no where else to change into our formal attire (and since we parked near this entrance) we ended up changing in the public washrooms there. Slightly odd coming our of the Bay in a gown, but it happened and it was memorable.
Masquerade! Hide your face so the world will never find you...alright so technically we didn't wear masks to Phantom, but we did dress up all fancy like!
Now for some scenes from the musical...
(of course these are not the same actors/singers that we saw live, I'm just giving you a little bit of an idea of what we saw)
Um....It seems that none of my pictures are loading properly. Sorry about that. I guess that's all the pics that you'll be able to see for now. That really sucks. Maybe i can update later....
However i can still tell you what went through my mind watching the Paris Opera house being revealed on stage in Edmonton. Alright, if you know anything about POTO, you know that it begins with an auction and as the auctioneer reveals the restored chandelier it starts to rise out from under its covers and is suspended over the stage. Now me being a HUGE POTO fan, i knew that whe nthe chandelier started to rise, the Phantom's musical theme starts to play. As you dcan probably guess i was extremely excited to watch the show and when i heard that opening chord of the Phantom's theme, i wanted to cry! It was just that beautiful. I honestly think i did shed a tear. Even just listening to the music now brings me back to last weekend and i still get chills from it.
Even just the set changes between scenes blew my mind. Scott figured that the longest set change was about 10 seconds. My favorite scene? As if you had to ask! Of course it's when Christine is taken into the Phantom's lair on a boat, which on stage looks like the boat is floating on smoke. Oh and when the candleabras (you know what i mean) come out of the sides of the stage to create the Phantom's lair, it just adds to the effect.
In conclusion....I want to see it again!!!!!
