L'Italiana in Algeri-Rossini

hello Hello!! It's Sunday July 10 on a fine non rainy day in Hamilton New Zealand. Yay for no rain...however I might have said that too soon because knowing this country it can rain at any second.

It's one week until I can go to school and next semester starts up! Man, I"m SO excited! Seriously! I haven't been this excited for school since last semester started. I just love it though :) Apparently there's only 36 students this semester. Last one there was about 60 of us and 40 of us were Canadians. However this time 'round there's about 10 Canadians, 10 Americans, and 10 from everywhere else in the world. 30 people! That's it! That's like half of last semester, which means there might only be two people per room rather than 4 people. I guess that's cool too. Please pray for the new students as they are travelling down to New Zealand. And also for the returning students that we will be good examples to these new students. Thanx guys!!

Lately I've just been realising that the Christian life is not the matter of keeping man out of Hell...it's getting God back into man, where He belongs. See, God created us perfect, in His likeness, without sin. However in the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating of "the tree of knowledge of good and evil". And so from then on man has been sinning. God sent Christ as the ultimate atonement for our sins. All that we need to do is believe that Christ died for us and has beaten death by rising from the grave. That's it. There is NO need for "working to try and please God". Once you're a Christian, that's it. However there is one thing that we need to do: let Christ live His life through us. Please if you have any questions about anything at all that I just said...let me know. I guess this is what's just been going through my head over the past couple of months and i know it in my head, it's just once i put it into words it might confuse people. But ya, let me know if you have any questions :)

Oh I'm also getting my hair cut today...I"m thinking kinda like how Kelly Clarkson has her hair in her "Since You've Been Gone" video. So, we'll see how that looks on me ;)

Still in Auckland

hello again. well you are probably all wondering what i've been up 2 in Auckland. Well it's just me here because everyone else either left for Australia or for home. So that was sad :( But i'm ok now because I know we'll keep in touch with e-mail and msn :)

As for me? Well I've been killing time here are the internet cafe. It's relatively cheap which is nice. Plus there's msn on most computers which is always a bonus:)

I've also been reading a novel by Jasper Fforde called "The Eyre Affair". it's #1 of a four part series. It's really good. I've read the 3rd on last 2 week break. (Thanks for letting me borrow it Jakeface!!) So ya that's been eating my time too.

I also saw another movie since I needed to kill a couple of hours. I watched "Monster In Law" which is pretty dec. It's a typical romantic comedy, and I love those types of movies. Basically Jane Fonda plays a mom who wants to break up her son's engagement to Jennifer Lopez's character. It's alright.

Right now it's getting crazy in Auckland because of the major rugby games that are going on. You can't go anywhere without seeing either and All Black symbol or a Lions Symbol. Basically the All Blacks are NZ's major rugby team. And the Lions are the United Kingdom's major rugby team. There's fans all over the place. It kinda gives me an idea of what the Red Mile looked like when Calgary was in the Stanley Cup. But ya I heard the Lions are a really good team, however the All Blacks have beaten them every single time they have played each other. But then again I heard this from a Kiwi so that may be a bit biased ;) Then again what do I know about rugby?! I just want the All Blacks to win because NZ is like home to me.

Testing out a picture...

Ah!! I can post pictures! Yes!! Ok my goal in Hamilton is to post the pictures that i have with me on my cards. Yes!! This is going to work! Yo uhave no idea how happy this makes me feel. Hooray!!

And if you haven't figured it out yet, this is a flag of my new "home". I've noticed lately that anything NZ (like a map or a flag) feels comfortable to me. Nikki had some Canadian money with her and just looking at it, it felt somewhat familiar yet somewhat foreign to me. I hope that makes sense. Okay bye 4 now :)

New Picture Feature

Yay for making posting pictures easier!! This makes things a whole lot easier for me when i can actually post pictures. Maybe i"ll be able to on my 2 week break. I"m just wondering....if i did post pics in chronological order, who of you would actually look at them? As in to look in my archives and look at them? Please e-mail me and tell me other wise what's the point of me posting pics in the first place if no one will look at them. YOu know what i mean? But ya I guess that's all for now. bye

Don't Stop Till You Get Enough-Micheal Jackson

what at crazy day! well not really all i did was go to coffee shops and read and wonder around Queens Street and bookstores. I"m heading into the movies (Monster In LaW, to be exact) to kill a couple of hours. Then I might be back @ the internet cafe to organize a few things on my blog & e-mail. I just get on and i"m already talking to like 5 people on MSN. Craziness!! OH well i guess that's the great thing about friends and technology....there's always someone online to talk to :) Well i guess i better go now. Love you all veyr much & God bless!

Auckland

hey everyone!! I really apologize to all those who have e-mailed me over the past couple of weeks and I haven't e-mailed back yet. The past weeks have been filled with last minute packing and saying goodbye to people. I know I already mentioned that in my last post, but you know. I'll try by best to catch up on all the e-mails that I've been behind on during the next week while I'm in Hamilton.

so at the moment I'm in Auckland and I've been hanging out with some friends from school and I also watch them leave our hostel and see them on the way to the airport. It's really sad. The last day of school before everyone parted ways was really sad because everyone was hugging everyone and saying goodbye and everyone was crying (well I know I was @ least) it was really sad. I'm hoping when I get back I'll do some major roadtripping...especially to Alberta & Manitoba ;)

Well as for the new things that have happened to me lately....since a bunch of us were bored in downtown Auckland we ended up seeing 3 movies in theatres. I ended up seeing Batman Begins, Madagascar, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. They were pretty decent movies (or as we say @ Capernwray "they were pretty dec"). Madagascar I saw by myself and I wish that Stacey or Ruthie was there because it had a bunch of inside jokes in there that only those 2 would understand. But ya that was fun.

before Shandell, Whitney and Jana left, Shandell helped me dye my hair black. I know I said I was going to wait until I got home but I talked to Ron (our principal) and he said I could dye it. so i did. It's kinda weird actually seeing black hair on me as opposed to the espresso brown that i"m used to. Now i just gotta get my layers trimmed up and it should look great

I think that once i say bye to everyone that's here with me right now I'll head down to Hamilton. Once I'm there I can catch up on e-mails, read a book @ Starbucks and sleep in. Yes! I'm excited

Well if some of you dont' know yet, I'm staying here until December 15. so if you want to contact me e-mail me @ earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz and if you go to the link that i have on the sidebar under my Schools heading and click Capernwray, it'll give you and idea of where I live in New Zealand. Plus you can hear my principal (Ron) and director (Peter Thomas...otherwise known at PT) on there too

Well i guess that's all for now. I apologize again to those who I haven't e-mailed lately, you know who you are ;) But i gotta go now. Love you all tons & God bless :)

Final Days of school...

TUES JUNE 28

Well I know you're probably all wondering why it's taking me so long to post another blog update and to e-mail many of you people back. This is because it's the last week before everyone leaves (well except us returning students) and I really just want to hang out with them. I mean once you get to know people for 5 months you kinda get attached to them. But ya. Tonight is our Grad dinner. I would really love to tell you guys all that happened in the past week or so. A couple of the highlights include:
-Staff Appreciation dinner
-a cowboy dinner us girls put on for the guys

Sorry I really can't expand on them now. I'll probably post pictures when I get home (sorry you have to wait 'til Dec-Jan for that) But ya. I apologize if you e-mail me and I can't answer you ASAP. I really just want to hang out with people here until they all leave :)

I'll try my best to catch up on e-mails over my 2 week break. I hope that's cool. Love you all & God bless :)

Past the Point of No Return - The Phantom of the Opera

THURS. JUNE 23

Hello one and all!! Sorry i didn't update of the past couple of days. It's been busy with catching up with Outreach (ministry week) stories. Graham even wrote a song about his ministry team. It's to the tune of the song that Adam Sandler sings on the Wedding Singer ("I want to gorw old with you"). Here are Graham's lyrics:

The Outreach Song
We're heading down to the southern tip
We'll do a play in our big cardboard ship
All I wanna do is go on outreach with you
Wanganui is the place to be
We'll sing some songs at resthome ministry
All I wanna do is go on outreach with you

We won't crash
And there's Tash
Playing her part as the ditsy girl
Matt got a free
Kiss on the lips you see
It was put there by a lady who was 93

Did a Scottish waltz on the dance floor
It made me tired but I can't sleep cuz my billet snores
All I wanna do is go on outreach with you
Mainly Music was a lot of fun
It made me wanna make babies but I̢۪m still too young
All I wanna do is go on outreach with you

Drove the wrong way
Were late every day
Used electric blankets cuz it was cold
Learned about Paul
Played fooseball
Tash got a fat lip from a kid who was 2 years old

Josh made lunch with a butter knife
He even baked some muffins like a good housewife
All I wanna do is go on outreach with you
Now we're back, it was an awesome ride
I hope until July I can stay on Ron's good side
All I wanna do is go on outreach with you
I'm really glad I went on outreach with you

Aw, I love my Grammy!!! Well this week we are learning about Jonah from our prinicipal Ron. Whenever he says that "God is the God of second chances" I always get the song from the Jonah VeggieTales movie stuck in my head. Usually on Wednesdays we have a video discussion. There was a video of Ron saying "This evening we are going to try out some new technology". So I thought we were giong to have his lectures on video. I was
sitting by Dan and he started singing the VT theme song. I thought nothing of it. Then the words "JONAH: A VEGGIETALES MOVIE" came on the big screen. You can just imagine how excited I was. i was even almost crying (and yes I have cried over VeggieTales before). I seriously had NO idea we were going to watch it. I mean I thought it would have been cool if we did but i didn't think we actually would. Man, that totally made my
day :) Danny and me and Stacey kept making comments during the movie and now I will never be able to watch the movie without thinking those things (ex. They are green black people! It looks like Graham! What are doing!) Good times :) I"m wearing my VeggieTales t-shirt today just in case Ron says anything about his "lectures" last night :)

I've been noticing that there are a ton of sweet as (that's a Kiwi expression) quotes that are floating about campus. They are more or less inside jokes, but I"ll let you in on them. (Yes i understand that you probably won't understand any of them, because you haven't gotten to know these people the way that I do, but that's okay too):

-Oh, you would!
-Who do you think you are?
-Just kidding....but seriously
-Aw, muffin!
-No! (only Ray can say that one properly)
-Brothers.....BUT....therefore...amen (we kinda took those from
Galatians 6)
-You don't even know!
-Clouds...Blue Sky....Sunshine...(inside joke between me and my girls ;) )
-MINE! (only Danny can pull that one off)
-WHY! (this is basically making fun of Ron's Texan accent)
-Huttah!

I"m sure there's heaps more (another Kiwi term) but those are the only ones that I can think of at the moment.

J-O-Y Down In My Heart...

So we did bible in schools today well actually we did 2 bible in schools things. one was an assembly and in that one we ended up singing a song that Lindsey really liked and somehow it ended up staying in all of our heads all day long. Here's what the song was:

I've got joy down in my heart
deep deep down in my heart.
J-O-Y down in my heart
deep deep down in my heart.
Jesus did it for me
so no one can
DESTROY DESTROY DESTORY DESTROY DESTROY!!
I've got joy down in my heart.
deep deep down in my heart :)

We also did a bible in schools class too...that was pretty fun. Me and Jordan did a puppet skit which was pretty fun because it reminded me of diong puppets at kids club with Courtney :)

We also just got back from Inbetweens which is the junior high group of Raleigh Street. It was really fun. We did a couple of wide games out at Capernwray Bible School and it was really fun & I got really dirty because i was rolling in the grass.

Before the games got started me & Becky had a good chat with Irene @ school (she's one of the secretaries there) and she told me that i got a package.
It was pretty big so i opened it.
Inside that one was a smaller package.
Inside that one was a smaller package.
Inside that one was a smaller package.
Inside that one was a smaller package.
Inside that one was a smaller package.
Then finally i found my contact lens that my dad send me last week. I still don't understand what all that packaging was needed *shrug*. Anyway it was fun opening it :)

I've noticed that my side bar is quite a bit longer than the actual text part of my blog. Usually the text WELL exceeds that sidebar. However I haven't had the chance to put up pictures since i left home. So that's why it's shorter. Sorry, that's just something I've noticed recently.

Anyway i guess all for now. Love you all & God bless!!

P.S. I bought another CD today....it was $6.99!!! And if you're wondering what it was, it was Sarah Brightman's Dive CD :)

More Ministries...

hello hello!! Well the past couple of days on ministry week have been filled with gardening, cleaning windows, bible studies, sharing my testimony, and kid/youth events at the church. but ya, that was about it... sorry i don't really hve much else to add. Oh, i just sneezed. LoL!! Anyway I'll talk to you guys l8er!! God bless!!

P.S. Lindsey (out team leader) took us down to a really sweet place where you can overlook Cambridge. Then we went into the woods and down some really sweet paths. Then we found a hude tree in the middle of a field and a few people on our team climbed it. I"ll have to show you pictures ASAP :)

Monty Python

hello one and all!! Today our ministry team did quite a number of things which included:

-Bible In Schools Assembly. This was really fun because we go to perform in front of about 80 some kids. We sang some songs and did skit based on Max Lucado's book "You Are Special". I played Lucia :) But ya being in that situation almost made me want to be an elementary teacher....just almost...

-help weed out some gardens. that was pretty fun. it was good bonding time for our team because by the end of it we pretty much knew how each other's "love lives" had occured

-we had a free night so we spent evening tea (supper) with our billets and then we went over to Jeremy's to watch a movie. We ended up watching "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". Good times :) It really reminded me of the Schem's birthday. oh and speaking of my Homestarmy, i was also able to talk to Jonny on msn for a fw minutes so that made me day :)

Well i guess that's all for now. Love you all & God bless!

Badger Badger Badger

Well today we were involved in some gardening, visiting an "old folks" home, practicing of our skits for Bible In Schools and then just hanging out @ Lindsey's house. The guys from our group even made supper which consisted of lasagna and garlic bread. I told them and they would make any woman proud! i was really impressed because it all tasted SO good! Then we watched "Beverlery Hills Ninja". it was a corny movie but still funny at the same time. but ya...

I also watched BADGER BADGER BADGER today. it's an internet cartoon which you must all see. it's found on www.badgerbadgerbadger.com I hope you all enjoy it. Remember how i told you that a bunch of us were in a phone booth and we started dancing? well this was the song that Dan and Graham were singing when were dancing in there. Enjoy!

Sunday, June 12, 2005

One Way Jesus

argh, i've had that song stuck in my head all day. oh well. Some quik hightlights of today just before i head to bead...
-did our skit "In the Light" @ church
-helped out at a baptism @ Finlay Park by singing, yes i do actually sing ;)
-hung out with the youth from Raliegh Street and played a crazy game of Mafia

Sorry that's really short but , meh, i'm tired plus we gotta get up early 2morrow because of gardening and what not. Hope to hear from you all soon. God bless!

Cow Pies

hey!! i'm actually on ministry week right now. so far it's pretty fun. Today we weeded the gardens at the church and then we had a youth group event. i just got back from it. it was the MOST bizarre thing i've ever seen or done.

So we were on a farm in New Zealand
then it was pretty much pitch black outside
then we went into a field......however this was a Kiwi field NOT like a nice flat one back home....
this field was on a rolly hill with cow patties all over the place and they were pretty much fresh ones too
then we had to get from one end of the field to another and steal the other team's jug without falling into the mushy swamp and all the millions of muchy cow pies that were around
Joel actually puched Angela into the swampy mess and she go extremel soaked from head to toe. I think he fell into multiple cowpies when he was wresting with Jordan. All of us were mess!!! Argh!! See, if it was mud I probably would have dove right in, however since all of the brownness on everyone was pretty much cow crap....well it wasn't the most plesant thing ever. But ya, it was definately an experience of a lifetime....plus it makes a great story ;)

Well just in case some of you haven't caught on yet, my e-mail address in NZ is earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz so remember, if you want to e-mail me you NEED to e-mail me here okay? thanx :)

Sorry It's Been A While

WEDS. JUNE 8

Man! I havne't blogged in like forever!! Sorry guys! I know you've all been waiting patiently gfor my next adventures here on the other side of the world. But I"m back!! I havne't written in over a week!!! OH Such craziness!!

Well let me see, a couple of days ago (June 4) It was Stacey's b-day!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY STACEY-FACE!!! So ya me, Nikki, and Ruth "kidnapped" Stacey, blindfolded her, stuck her in the car and while Ruth was decorating the Homestead lounge with streamers.

Um, Sorry again that I didn't catch up on a whole bunch of stuff. I few of th better highlights have included:

-giong into a bookstore and spending most of our time reading kids books and reading books like "baby's first color" type books. Ya, that was fun :)

-squishing 7 of us (Dan, me, Stacey, Graham, Ray, Nikki, and Ruth) into a red phonebooth. I got a video clip of us in there and it's pretty funny because we're all jumping up and down as if we were having a rave party. Graham and Dan were even singing "Badger Badger". It's really really funny. i"ll have to show you when i get home :)

-we also went into a household store and the guys were bugging us girls about how the mop section was "our section" because mopping is "women's work"

-we found some clear plastic boxes and garbage cans (they were clean) and Ruth got a picture of us looking at the boxes except i put a blue clear plastic garbage can on my head and when we looked at the picture (on my digicam) it looks I'm stuck in a blue bubble

All of those things happened on Stacey's birthday. Then this week started. We got our new ministries started up. I'm just staying at Cambridge with my team and we're all helping out at Raleigh Street Christian Center (it's a church). So ya that'll be fun. So far we're doing 2 dramas
and someone my characters always end up crying...I don't know how that
happened but that's just how it went.

Then a couple of days ago, me and Stacey tried to take Ruth out for milkshakes cause it was her birhtday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUTHIE!) but then
everyone else was either working on stuff or didn't really want to go, even Ruth!! So me and Stacey were kidna getting frustrated at the whole thing but Dan was like "oh let's just all go anyway!" So me, Stacey, Dan, Bethany, and Jake all headed into town and went out to the bakery. It was fun :)

Um, I guess that's all I really have to say for now. Oh and just in case some of you dont' know yet my e-mail address is
earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz
That's just in case some of you didn't know that yet. don't forget I AM on the other side of the world.

Oh and about me staying here....well last friday I headed out ot Auckland and well I got my ticket changed from July 12 to Dec. 15 So that means I'm not leaving New Zealand until Dec.15 So ya....I guess you can figure that one out for yourselfe ;) Let me know what you think (use the
e-mail address I just gave you) about all that ;)

I also wanted to go to Australia sometime when I'm down in this hemisphere and I was thinking about going in October during a 2 week break that we have. However Becky informed me that she's thinking about giong to NZ in Oct to visit me. So that means if I wanted to go to Oz I'd have to go in July because I definately want to go home in Dec. So please pray that things work out for me in that department. If it's not God's plan that I go to Oz, that's cool too. Just pray that i figure things out ASAP. Thanx.

Oh funny story!! Okay so there's a few of us girls here at school who are making t-shirts that say "GO BIG OR GO HOME...GO HOME BIG!" I'm excited!! I think the plan is that we're going to put the total amount of weight gained by us girls on the t-shirt too. I just weighed myself so I
could give Angela my numbers....I've pretty much gained 23 lbs. Ya i know, how depressing is that!! I can't beleive I was scared of the "freshman 15"!! HA! But ya that's my sad depressing story of the day ;)

Oh if you e-mail me over the next week, don't expect an e-mail right away because I'll be away on ministry week, so ya, just to give you the heads up on that :)

Memory (Cats) - Andrew Lloyd Weber

MON. MAY 30

Hello there I think
I think I might try out a
poem, a Haiku

I tried it with a
and she liked it very much;
it may be silly

Raining lots it is
New Zealand is very wet
but that's my story

Sorry if that didn't work out quite right. For those of you who dont' know what i Haiku is it's a 3 lined poem that has 5 syllabuls in the 1st line, 7 in the 2nd and 5 in the 3rd. But ya, I just thought i'd try it out. There's really nothing going on here.

Pedro Offers You His Protection

THURS. MAY 26

Guess what? I just went to Warehouse again tonight. And guess what I bought....yes, it was yet another CD. However it was only $4.97. Wanna know what CD it was? Christina Aguilera! Well I'm not THAT big of a fan of hers. But I like her songs "Fighter", "Beautiful", and "The Voice
Within". So that's why I bought it. Plus it came with a music video DVD....all both CD and DVD was (together) $4.97!!

Well techincally it was only $4.95 because they don't have cents here in NZ and there's not tax , so that's a bonus. I really don't know why they price things with .97 or .99 cents because you just have to round it to the nearest 5 cent anyway. I don't understand it sometimes. But I guess that's just the Kiwi way :)

Oh and Becky also called me today, which totally made my day!! Thanx Becky :) You're such a sweetie ;) OH LEANDER!! Oh my goodness, I still can't believe I forgot about that!!! For those of you who don't get it, trust me you wouldn't want to ;) Pedro offers you his protection... Vote for Pedro! hehehehe!!

SAT. MAY 28

Know what? It's been a year since I graduated High school. Exactly a year ago at this time (well NZ time @ least) I was getting ready to get my pictures taken by Richard. Aw, I miss grad. It was fun :) Well actually it's 52 weeks since Grad. Tomorrow it will be exactly a year.

Oh and it's raining here....almost Noah sized proportions. It rains alot here :)

Next week our study paper is due. It's fairly easy (I think) and we can choose whatever topic we want. My topic is going to be Marriage. It's a very interestin subject. I'm quite excited about finding information about it. Mainly because I want to get married one day and I want to know
what the bible says about it. So ya, I've never really been this excited to do an assignment before. Maybe it's because this is actually something that I"m interested in and you usually want to do the things that you are interested in. :) Hehehe. A couple of people, when they found
out that I was doing Marriage for my study paper, actually want a copy of my paper. LoL!! But ya. That's my little thing for the day :)

Dungeons and Dragons

WED. MAY 25

Hey it's 7 months until Christmas, better start shopping now ;)

This morning at tea devotions, Dean (our chef) read something that really caught my attention. It's like a modern Psalm 23. I'm going to type out the "modern" one for you, then the real Psalm 23. I want you to really think about it as you read it. What really controls you, time or God?

The "Modern" Day Psalm 23
The clock is my dictator, I shall not be in rest
It makes me lie down only when exhausted
It leads me to deep depression
It hounds my soul
It leads me in circles of frenzy for activity's sake
Even though I run frantically from task to task
I will never get it all done
For my "ideal" is with me
Deadlines and my need for approval, they drive me
They demand performance from me, beyond the limits of my schedule
They annoint my head with migraines
My in-basket overflows
Surely fatigue and time pressure shall follow me all the days of my
life
And I will dwell in the bonds of frustration forever

Psalm 23
The Lord is my sheperd; I shall not be in want
He maketh me lie down in green pastures
He leadeth me beside quiet waters
He restoreth my soul
He leadeth me in the paths of the righteous for His name's sake
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil
For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff comfort me
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies
My cup runneth over
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

As much as i hate it when Felicia sends me forwards (an actual e-mail would be nice), I thought this one was blog worthy...

THE BRICK
A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street
going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.
As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door!

He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, "What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?"

The young boy was apologetic. "Please, mister..please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do," He pleaded. "I threw the brick because no one else would stop..."

With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. "It's my brother," he said. "He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up." Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me."

Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay.. "Thank you and may God bless you," the grateful child told the stranger.

Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door.

He kept the dent there to remind him of this message "Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!" God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

Thought for the Day:
If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.
He sends you flowers every spring.
He sends you a sunrise every morning.
Face it, friend - He is crazy about you!

God didn't promise days without
pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He
did promise strength for the day,
comfort for the tears, and light for the way

Broken - Evanescence

TUES. MAY 24

Why is making the final decision of whether or not to stay here another 6 months so hard? I mean everything pretty much is lined up perfectly for me to stay here:
-parents are supportive of the idea
-they have enough money to send me here
-dad sent me phone numbers for places i need to call to change my ticket
-i like meeting new people
-the subjects that I want to learn about (Revelation, Minor Prophets, etc.) are going to be lectured on next semester
-my 2 fav lecturers are coming back (Ray Andrews & Lew Meyer) are coming back

But there's still a part of me that wants to go home because:
-i'm scared my friends won't understand my decision (that's a big one)
-i want to go home
-i want to go back to work (Eddie Bauer)
-I want to drive my car

I know I know, those sound like really dumb reasons to go home, so that means I should stay right? Well the decision is still hard.

I've been talking with some friends about this and this is a piece of advice that I was given "If God give you a green light, go with Him until He gives you a red light." Well the actual quote was something like that, but you get the basic jist of it. So I think today I'll hand in my Visa to get the dates changed and maybe call up some travel agents and see what i get changed. Aaaaa! This is such a big step! There's no for sure's yet....i"m just still gathering information.

Ok visa is in the office's possession right now (well it's actually my passport and they deal with the visa stuff) and now I've got the same forms that i filled out before i came here dealing with Visa applications and bank statements and what not. *Oh dad, you'll probably recieve a fax in the near future talking about bank statements. You'll know what I mean when you see it :)*

Well everyone just pray that if it's God's will that I stay here that everything will just work out nicely so that I don't have to worry about it all. Thanx :)

Emotion - Destiny's Child

MON MAY 23

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FELICIA!! (Sorry it's a day late, I hope that's ok!)

Well right now me and Amy are e-mailing each other back and forth because we're both online at the same time. It's pretty cool. It's like MSN but it's slower because it's in e-mail form but that's ok.

Oh here's a fun fact: a couple of my friends here think I look like a VeggieTales character because my eyes are really big and when i open them really wide and do a "puppy" face I (apparently) look like a VT cartoon character. As weird as that sounds I'm taking that as a compliment. It's kinda cool to know that you can look like your favorite cartoon characters because your eyes are huge :)

Um, I dont' really know what else to say right now. I really don't want to work more on my Acts 8:26-40 bible study. Argh. I know I should be doing it though....argh! It's like high school all over agian. Where you know you should be working on homework, but you don't want to do it just because you don't want to.

Yay for toothpaste....um, Ruth just back from town and she bought me toothpaste because i'm starting to run out of the stuff my mom gave me before i left home. Yay for Colgate. I haven't had Colgate in so long because mom wanted me to use her Forever Living toothpaste. I mean that stuff works, but it's just nice to go back to the basics like Colgate!! But ya. That's my story of the hour!

Christmas Eve - Celine Dion

SUN. MAY 22

Happy Birthday Matt! Shhh...he doesn't want anyone to know ;) And since most of you don't really know who Matt is, i guess it should be okay that I post this ;) But don't tell him okay?

Well as of late the newest catch phrase at school is "What are doing?" said in true East Indian accent. Our last speaker, Satish John, told us a story about his visa and some other stuff that had happened to him before he came here to Capernwray. He said "What are you doing?" but to us it sounded like "What are doing?". Does that sound like someone that we know? Maybe....his name might even be Trent Sommer. Just maybe. So ya ever since Trent came back from England (this is before I left for NZ) he's been saying "What are doing?", so whenever i hear someone on campus say that , it makes me miss home. But I guess that's ok too :)

Star Wars

SAT. MAY 21

Well yesterday was a fun day of shopping. I ended up getting 2 CD's (they were relatively cheap):
Destiny's Child-Survivor
Celine Dion-These Are Special Times (A Christmas CD)
Plus I also got a cool toque because it's getting colder and it's a cute toque (cream with pink stripes) and I thought that since NZ is warmer than home i didn't bring a toque with me. so i bought one. what? it works for me.

Plus we (as in me, Graham, Mark, Matt, Stacey and also Ray, Dan, Jamie, Joel P., Hannah Maria, and Matt A. came in Bingo) also saw "STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH ". It's an awesome movie. It's the one where you see Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader. It's really good. The music is superb. Since I have one of the Star Wars soundtracks already I knew exactly who's music theme is whose like "oh, that's Ben's theme. And oh, that's Luke's, and the Darth Vader theme." so that kinda made me miss band cause we played the Star Wars theme song but that's ok.

I think one of my fav parts in the movie is where Yoda walks through a door to talk to Senator Palpatine/Darth Sidious and he throws two Sith guards against the wall. It's pretty funny! Plus Yoda just rocks! Plus the part where R2D2 lights 2 droids on fire is pretty sweet too. After
watching Episode III it makes me want to watch all 6 of them now. I think I'll have to have a Star Wars fest when i get home. You're welcome to join me if you want.

After we watched the movie we went for 50 cent ice cream cones at Burger King and guess what I saw? There was an ad for the Star Wars toys for the kids meal. so of course I felt compelled to get a Kids Meal. At first I thought that they didn't give me a toy, but then i found a Millenuim Falcon under my chicken nuggets. And yes the Millenium Falcon is in the 3rd movie, I didn't see it but Mark and Matt saw it landing on one of the hangers in the movie. And my toy even lights up! That's sweet. Apparently the Yoda toy flips around, so I wanted that one but the Millenium Falcon still rocks :)

there's another group going from school to see Star Wars. Joel was even playing the Star Wars theme song on the keyboard to "get in the mood". Oh speaking of the keyboard, yesterday Mark (on keyboards), Jordan (on guitar), and Ray (on bass and drums) played Phantom of the Opera for me. I even got it on video. It's pretty sweet1 Ray was even trying to do a techno type beat with the bass and drums and even though you can't really hear in on the video I know it's there ;)

Well I"m kinda bored right now and I"m listening to Destiny's Child. I can't wait to get home (whenever that will be) and just belt these songs (plus of course POTO!!!) in my car where no one can hear me. That's kinda why i wouldn't mind giong a couple road trips by myself because
then I could sing. But then again road trips are always better with friends. Even though the 1st one that I ever went on really only lasted 2 hours because our car broke down. But it was still fun :) So ya, I really want to go on some road trips to North Carolina (to visit Becky), to Calgary & Winnipeg & St.Catherine's (to visit friends from school) and then of course from S'toon to Spalding to visit my girls :) So ya.

I've also noticed that lately I've been interested in girly music like Destiny's Child, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears and Celine Dion . I don't know. I guess that's just my new phase. Plus i like girly music. I figure you can never like too much girly music. Plus it's fun to sing to :) This may sound really weird but it helps my singing voice to sing along with girly music. I mean I probably can't sing at all, but it's just fun to pretend I can ;)

Well since me, Dan, Jana, Mark, and Nikki really didn't have anything else better to do this afternoon we went bowling (10 pin) in Hamilton which was pretty fun. Mark beat us all but Jana was a close second. I even got a strike and that made me feel special.

The group of Capernwray people that were going this afternoon just got back from seeing Star Wars and they also loved the movie :) I think yet another group is going tonight. I"m listening to the soundtrack right now because I really didn't feel like listening to Celine Dion and everyone that just saw the movie can't stop talking about it.

All day I've had the Imperial March theme (from Star Wars of course) stuck in my head. Just now me, Stacey, Ruth, Ray, and Bethany all went into town and shopped around at Countdown and the Warehouse. We even had a sing along in the car which included such songs such as "Stop" by Spice Girls, the Imperial March theme song, and Ice Ice Baby. Oh and at the Warehouse they had a whole bunch of Star Wars toys like a Yoda acton figure that moved itd mouth when it talked and a Darth Vader helmet that when you pushed a button said Darth quotes such as "Don't make me destroy you!" and "You don't know the power of the Dark Side!" I wanted it however it was like $80. Which totaly sucked but that's ok i guess.
FRIDAY MAY 20

Well it's the weekend and I think today me, Mark, Graham, Stacey, and Matt are all going to Hamilton for some shopping. Maybe I can find some tall black boots, hopefully. Other than that there's no real goal this time for shopping. I think we might even go to the Christian book store
which is sweet because then I can stock up on Christian CD's. Yay for new music! But ya. That's my story for now.

Omaha Beach - Saving Private Ryan soundtrack

THURS. MAY 19

Well it's Family Night again and I found out what were diong about an
hour or so ago. It's the best ever! I love my family group here! We're
not only having our own evening tea but it includes perogies and
sausages. Now the NZ sausages aren't the greatest but the 'rogies are giong to
be home made which is awesome! And ya i haven't had 'rogies since
before I left home like 4 months ago! Yay! So ya not only that but we're
also watching "Napolean Dynamite" which is another one of my fav movies.
So ya Family Night is going to be awesome....Whoo Hoo! I"m pumped!!

Oh, here are some fun quotes on money that I'd like to share with you

Thunderstruck - ACDC and All That Jazz - Chicago

TUESDAY MAY 17

Well today was one of those fun days. Usually Tuesdays are are my fun
day of the week. So here's what happened today:

I watched Hannah K. through a fake hissy fit because she got gas on her
jeans today. She was partly upset because they were her only clean pair
of jeans left. Then since I was laughing at her she started throughing
her other clothes at me. Believe me it was quite funny.

I talked to Ron (our principal) about who would be speaking next
semester. He mentioned some names such as Ray Andrews and Lew Meyer who were
among my fav speakers this semester. Then he also mentioned that some
of the subjects that would be taught would be "Revelation", "Minor
Prophets", "Relationships", "The Occult" and other interesting things like
that. Hmm, this almost makes a decision for staying easier. But just to
let all of you know, there's no final decisions yet. I'm just THINKING
about doing this and I'm currently just gathering info about it all.

Graham tried to convince me not to dye my hair black when i get home
from school. because according to him people with black hair aren't
pretty. Um, okay. Then her tried to convince me that my parents wouldn't
love me if i did dye my hair. He even tried to get Ray to help convince
me to not dye my hair. Silly Graham. Oh well. I'm still thinking about
dying it when i get back .But then again that's just a thought.

Then we started play fighting which i always fun because i love that
kind of stuff. because he tries to slap me and i try to knock his hand
out of the way. Then he ends up laughing at me because I'm usually in
some kind of karate pose when i try to slap him back.

WED. MAY 18

Hey again! Well it's really pouring rain right now, which kinda sucks
but it's fun to listen to.

Um, I've noticed that my hair has grown about 2 inches or so. When Ruth
cut my bangs in Auckland they were just part my eyebrows, now they are
almost at my lips. Such craziness.

When me and Ray were mopping the floors today, we pretended that our
mops were monsters (of the mop kind of course) and his mop ate mine :( So
that wasn't good for my mop. :(

Minuetto, Bradenburg Concerto No.1 in F Major, BMV 1046- J.S. Bach

Monday May 16

Well now i realize that it's almost a week after my birthday and I know
I said that I'd mention all my birthday gifts, so I'll try to list as
much as I can right now. So the way this is going to work is that i"ll
mention the "gift" and then the person(people) that it's from and plus
I'll probably mention my thoughts about each thing (these are pretty
much in order of recieving them):

Wake up "call"- Nikki, Stacey, Ruth-I already elaborated on this so I
just won't repeat myself
A birthday hat-Diane- It was one of those cone shaped ones that sort of
resemled a dunce cap. But ya it was kinda fun to wear a fun hat on my
birthday. It's presently attached to my bed cause it's a fun hat :)
A birthday card-Nikki- I saw this in my mailbox and I was like "the
mail came already?" but it made my day to get a card from Nikki :)
A black shirt with a black flower pin and the new Kelly Clarkson
CD-me!- I think that everyone should buy themselves birthday presents. I was
going to buy tall black boots but then they were kinda pricy for me at
the moment so i settled on a black shirt. Which is cool cause I'm
thinking I need more black to balance out all the colorfulness that I have.
About the CD, well I was going to buy the new Britney Spears because
Laura Bl. has it and it seems like a fun CD to dance around to (even
though I really dislike Britney Spears as a person, her songs are fun) but
I thought I'd go for Kelly because she's cool and she does actually
wear clothes. Plus I like her songs, so ya maybe I'll get the Britney CD
later on, who knows *shrug*.
A slab of 3 Wishes chocolate-Steph- She told me to check my mailbox and
I was so clueless but then I checked it and believe me, I was happy to
get chocolate :) Plus she even wrote me a really cute note on the
package :)
A Turkish Delight Bar & 2 packs of Tim Tams-Graham- He told me that he
wanted to take me for a walk, and I figured that there had to be some
sort of scheming behind it. He actually led me on an "obstacle" course
around campus. Basically I had to jump and dive and go through all the
things that he went through. I actually fell down because I was laughing
so hard. The whole thing ended when we got to his room and I was like
"Um, Grammy! I can't go in there!" He came out and produced the Turkish
Delight bar and explained that since we were doing "Narnia" for
Breakthrough I could be like them and eat Turkish Delight. Then he disappeared
back in him room. I yelled at him "Is that it?" "Yep" was the reply.
Um, ok then...then Graham came out again and produced the 2 packs of Tim
Tams. I seriously started crying!! Aw! Plus they were my 2 fav kinds of
Tim Tams. So ya that totally made my day :)
2 slabs of Fruit & Nut Chocolate and party favor parachuting men-Jana,
Whitney, Bianca- More chocolate!! yes! Plus it's my fav kind! I love
this stuff because it kinda makes me feel as if I'm eatin healthy-ish
because of the raisins and almonds that are in the chocolate. As for the
parachuting men, I got 4 of them and they remind me of when i played
with those things when I was kid. One of them is hanging from my bed; his
name is Walter. Plus they also remind me of skydiving, which is reall
awesome.
A pack of stickers and gel pens-Nikki, Stacey & Ruth- Now they know how
much I use stickers in all my letters to home and that I pretty much
only buy gel pens here in NZ. Yay for usefulness!
Fondue Party- I'm not sure who all put it on but it was really
awesome-Since it was mine and Angeleah's birthday's pretty much everyone showed
up in the Homestead Lounge and had some fondue. Simon even played me
"Take Five" which is one of my fave jazz songs. Aw :)
Another birthday card-A bunch of the girls here from school- Vanessa
was the one who actually handed it to me and even though everyone didn't
sign it it still made me feel special :)
Bee earrings and a gold bracelet-mom and dad- they actually got the
secretaries here at school to hid this form them until my birthday. This
was pretty much perfect timing for the earrings because the gold
earrings that I usually wear, well I kinda lost a stud on one of them, oops.
But that's okay because having these bee ones kinda make up for it...if
that makes any sense to you

The day after my birthday (Wednesday) me and Mark started building the
"beaver dam" for Breakthrough that Sat. Stacey came and joined us too
because she really didn't have anything else better to do. Pretty much
the whole time she killed herself laughing at me and Mark because we
kept bickering and arguing with each other. No wonder they put us as Mr. &
Mrs. Beaver! Oh well I had fun with it :)

Then the day(Thursday) after that some of us gave blood. I didn't have
the same experience that I had last time (thank goodness) but other
than that I was ok. I was actually expecting it to be alot worse but it
wasn't. When we got back to school, I layed down and rested which felt
really good

On Friday Mark invited me to play chess with him. Now he plays chess
pretty often so I knew I was going to loose. Plus I kinda got distracted
by the letter that I got from Amy that day (Thanks Amy! I'll reply
soon, I've just been busy with stuff) but here's the funny thing...we tied
in chess! Huh? Wasn't I supposed to lose? Guess not. Somehow I
couldn't do anything with my king and I was basically trapped or something
like that, I didn't really understand how, but anyway I was tied. So that
was something interesting that happened that day.

Amy send me another article that I'd like to share with you:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Step - Chasing Gilbert
by Natalie Lloyd

When I was a chubby 12-year-old with big pink glasses, stringy hair and
a gap between my teeth, I fell in love.
Boys had cooties back then anyway, but it was becoming more and more
obvious that they didn̢۪t like girls like me. I couldn̢۪t play ball,
and because I was very shy and awkward, I never attempted to say
anything funny. There was nothing about me that really stood out. I was
perfectly content keeping my face in the pages of a book or holding a pencil
and paper in my hand. Then one day my mom gave me the book Anne of
Green Gables. I curled up on the couch and met the guy of my dreams -
Gilbert Blythe.

Gil (as Anne called him) picked Anne, a feisty, freckle-faced redhead,
over all the other beautiful girls in his class. He liked the fact that
she was intelligent, and he didn't think it was weird that she loved
to write. They started out as friends who stood by each other through
every crazy circumstance imaginable. I read each book following Anne and
Gilbert's love story. I was there the second she broke a blackboard
over his head (sorry, you've gotta read the book) and squealed and
clapped when he finally asked her to marry him. Gilbert was sweet,
charming and funny. So I made up my mind - I wanted a Gilbert!

The Waiting Game
I still joke with my mom that I'm "holding out for a Gilbert," but
the joke isn't as funny as it used to be. Most of my friends are in
pretty serious relationships. I'm not.

Much of the time it doesn't bother me. But I wish I could say that
I'm always satisfied with Christ, that I don't care about spending
time with a guy for a fun movie date or holding hands or having one of
those conversations that seems like 10 minutes but really lasts for
hours.

All it takes is a little lie or two that the enemy slips my way to make
me feel like an overweight 12-year-old with telescope glasses. There
are random days when I start to list everything that's wrong with me:

any reason I can think of that I'm not the one hanging out with the
guy who other girls wish was theirs.

To be honest, there really are times when it bothers me that I'm
still waiting.

I Want To Be Like . . .
Isn't it so easy to think that if we were just someone else, we would
be more lovely or more loved? It's not true. You and I are made in
the image of the One who is beauty. We're already loved. If we keep
thinking about our outward appearance that's going to get wrinkled
anyway we'll always be unhappy.

Know what I think God is teaching me through this waiting business?
Until I'm happy just being with Him, and until I'm more satisfied with
myself, I can't truly appreciate any kind of romantic relationship.

Instead of wasting energy worrying and wondering about who my Gilbert
is, I'm slowly learning to leave it every bit of it in the
hands of Someone who knows exactly what He's doing. Instead of getting
upset over a long wait, I'm learning to anticipate what God has in
store.

God's dreams for us are better than what we could dream for
ourselves. He knows how much we like being with the opposite sex that's
part of the beautiful way He created us! But happiness isn't going to
come for us when we find our Gilbert; it's going to come when we
find our true worth in Christ.

The Sweetest Relationship
No, I haven't found my Gilbert yet. I'm not even looking. I have
tremendous confidence in the One writing my own love story. He knows my
heart and knows what makes it thump so loudly that I think everyone
around me can hear it. Romance may not come for me in a fairytale cloud or
Cinderella moment when everyone else in the world will see it. That
stuff is too cheesy anyway.

It might happen slowly, though, in a way so amazing that I'll know
Who's behind it all. Don't settle for anything but God's best! He
isn̢۪t having us wait as some kind of a cruel joke. He's teaching us
how to fall in love with Him. Don't lose heart; God's saving a
Gilbert out there just for you!

No Song

SUN .MAY 15

Hey! Sorry I haven't really updated in a few day. i"m sorry.
Breakthrough was yesterday. I got tons of sweet pictures of me being dressed up
as a beaver, So i might or might not elaborate on Breakthrough until i
get home because then I can tell you "stories" when I post all the
pictures. Well there are also quite a bit of highlights from last week that
I would like to go through eventually. I can't right now because I"m
pretty much dead tired plus I"m kinda getting a cold. I slept for about 4
& 1/2 hours this afternoon. And I"m thinking about going back to bed.
Maybe I'll even have some tea first. Hmmm, that sounds like a good idea.
Okay bye 4 now.

P.S. Here's a cool article that I got from Amy that I want you read and
think about:

"In Step” ''

Someone's Dream Girl" by Natalie Lloyd

A friend once told me that a girl had managed to ruin every good love
song for him. While rejection and joy can be connected just as tightly
with songs as any other emotions, I like having sentimental attachments
to pieces of music.

Still, driving home late one night, one of my favorite songs came on
the radio that reminded me of an emotion I don't enjoy: rejection,
good times soured because of a bad experience. I could feel it all over
again, as if my heart had just broken the day before. The cold numbing
reality that, to someone, something about me was just never good
enough; that feeling that I had really laid my heart on the line, only to
watch it get squished.

While forgiveness is a beautiful thing, and I no longer wallow in a
pool of self-pity, there's nothing that hurts like rejection. And
nothing can dredge it up like a holiday complete with clashing red and pink
hearts: Valentine's Day.

What a Girl Wants
The biggest complaint I hear from folks in their late teens and
early 20s, said the pastor on television, is that they just can't
find the love of their life.
I took my hand out of the bag of popcorn beside me and considered
changing the channel, but stopped. If I had to be really, really honest, it
was a complaint this 20-something had voiced a few times, too. I've
waited all my life for my Gilbert (if you've never seen or read Anne
of Green Gables, this reference will mean nothing to you). I've been
careful, and cautious and have prayed earnestly about the relationships
in my life. Still, brokenheartedness ensued. Unlike so many of my
friends, I didn't attach myself to one person when I went to college,
certain he was the one. I didn't find him there. It was as simple and
frustrating as that. While I'm confident I'm not ready to be married,
and I know many women who didn't come out of college with an
engagement ring, just being surrounded by so many people who did made me start
to wonder.

What I say to them, the pastor continued, is to become the
kind of person they want to marry. They tell me they want someone godly. I
ask them what their Scripture memory verse is for that week. They say
they want someone loving, funny, patient, spontaneous, kind, whatever. I
ask what they're doing with their life, how they're honoring God in
their job, in school, with their time.

Even if you aren't dating someone, you should focus on becoming
the kind of person you're looking for.

His message floored me. As many friends as I know who are in love,
there are just as many experiencing a painful parting, realizing they
jumped into a wrong relationship, or just dreaming of the day they won't
have to rent movies and watch them alone anymore.

Because You Love Me
The truth is you're probably too young to even think about getting
married but that doesn't mean you don't occasionally dream about
what your wedding day will be like and how wonderful it will feel to be
a wife and a mom. These are dreams God puts in our hearts for a reason,
and until those dreams become reality, it's our job to become the
absolute best person we can be. Marriage, after all, isn't 24/7 bliss.
There are litanies of technical stuff we don't think about when we
look through a bridal magazine. We don't think about being around
someone all day long, about paying bills, cleaning a kitchen, helping someone
when he has a head cold or knowing absolutely everything about them,
including his gross habits. Love is a huge responsibility; including
the commitment to keep on loving when the warm fuzzies fade.
There will never be a love that's more complete and amazing than the
kind Jesus showed with His life and death. Before we even knew Him,
even though He knew all the dumb stuff we'd do, He carried our sin on
His shoulders and died for us. Some of His last words on earth were to
His Father regarding how much He wanted us to be with Him forever (John
17).

Of course, there are other love stories in the Bible too, ones that
happen in these wonderfully wacky ways. Ours could be the same. So no
matter if you're single, dating, engaged, or about to say I do,
here's the thing: God's promises, in all their unpredictability and
strangeness, are totally worth waiting for. You never have to feel less
than beautiful, wonderful or amazing just because it hasn't happened
for you yet. If God orchestrates all the big, important things in your
life so well, you can be sure He has something beyond your imagination
when it comes to romance.

Being loved before the dawn of time is a pretty sweet valentine in
itself!

Everlasting Love
If V-Day brings up another kind of regret, the kind that comes from
having given in, you can still smile. Forgiveness is one of the most
amazing, wonderful attachments to love we can possibly experience. His
dreams and plans for you are still the same.
So send out the cards, break out the chocolate and sing along to all
the corny songs on the radio. Make plans for Valentine's Day with some
friends or family (love doesn't just come with hand-holding and
goodnight kisses!) or help out with a Valentine's dance at a local nursing
home.

For the moment, let's keep loving all the people in our lives we can,
and never stop becoming the kind of godly, amazing, fun dream girl some
guy out there might be praying for this very second.

I really liked the quote: Even if you aren't dating someone, you
should focus on becoming the kind of person you're looking for.

Sat. May 14

Happy Birthday!!

TUES. MAY 10

HAPPY BIRHTDAY TO ME!
HAPPY BIRHTDAY TO ME!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR EARLENE!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELEAH! HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHEN (better known as
Cuz)!

Yo shorty, it's your birthday! We're gonna party like it's your
birthday! Yay for being 19!! i'm still not sure what i think of that but
that's ok :)

So this morning I got Soo to wake me up at about 6:30 because on my
birthday i always try t wake up at about 6:20-ish because that's what time
i was born. So i was awake and all but i really didn't feel like
getting out of bed because i was really compfy there plus it was nice and
warm. So i kinda half fell asleep and then i hear movement, like crumpling
of paper and tape being stuck on things and balloons rattling around. I
thought "that couldn't be Stacey or Ruth becaue they're be too giggly
to do this." I opened my eyes and kinda half saw a purple streamer
hanging above me. I figured if i didn't open my eyes and lay perfectly still
then the "surprise" or whatever was giong on would be better. so i just
layed there until i didn't hear anymore noises. I opened my eyes and
saw that there was a fake yellow rose hanging from the roof of my bed,
and streamers hung up too and also balloons near my bed and on my bed.
AW!!! Then Vanessa sang me a birthday song and once i was in the bathroom
i hear screaming and disappointment as i heard Nikki, Ruth, and Stacey
all scream "Bring out---where'd she go? She's not supposed to be up
yet?!" So i came out of the bathroom to find that the culprits of all the
festivities was them. AW!! plus they also put up a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY
sign on my door. Apparently they were going to wake me up by saying
"Bring out your dead!" but then i was already awake. i figure that that's a
pretty good start to my birthday :)

My plan for this afternoon is to go shopping with Whitney, Nikki, and
Stacey. i figure it's my birthday and I deserve a mini-shopping spree.

Oh i also got my results from my audition............I didn't get
accepted :( Which kinda sucks because that kinda closes the door on me, but
then again i really didn't feel ready for university level music
anyway. so in that sense it's maybe a good thing. However I'm still accepted
into Arts & Sciences for this fall, which might change depending
whether or not I stay here another 6 months or not. So ya, I'm thinking i
still want be a teacher just now i don't know what kind. So ya, there's
good points and bad points about me not being accepted into music
education. so ya, that's my news on that.

We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise - Kelly Willard

MON. MAY 9

Today wasn't really full of interesting things. Well, the phones were
pretty much being constantly used (we have 2 student phones which all
60-some of us use quite often) so I was pretty surprised when my mom
called me to wish me Happy Birthday and I also told her Happy Mother's Day.
so that was handy. Plus that also made my day.

Oh my friend Graham went into Auckland (which is a 3 hour drive from
here) last friday to get his visa and he ended up not getting it because
her arrived at the office there 4 minutes after they closed and the
lady there wouldn't let him inside. Which sucks horribly!! So he made
another trip into Auckland today, came back and told many of us that the
visa place needed proof of an address in NZ, which meant that he had to
make another trip into Auckland at a later date. I learned later on that
he actually made up this story and he was able to get his visa during
his second Auckland trip. However Stacey and Ruth didn't know that he
had made up that part of the story so me and Graham and Mark was in one
it too, all kept the story up until suppertime and Graham finally told
them the truth. Ruth totally freaked out, but she was laughing all at
the same time, so that was fun too :)

This week we have lectures on Apologetics. No, not the cool awesome
parody band Apologetix, but Apologetics as in proof of our faith in God.
Take for example a point that was made just tonight: There has to be a
creator even in small living cells because of he structures within them.
Even in DNA, there at thousands of combinations of amino acid chains
that can be formed, however they need to be placed in the correct order
for them to form the organism they are supposed to. That's like saying
if a tornado was to go through a junk yard, could it form a perfect 747
airplane from the parts that it flung into the air? So this disproves
the theories that some people have of things coming together randomly
and forming an organism. I hope my explanation of this makes sense, sorry
if it doesn't to some of you, i just thought this was a good point to
make :)

Fun quote of the day: "I've been crookified!" Basically Jamie pushed
Ray's chair before lecture started and Ray said that. Sorry, i guess that
was one of those "you had to have been there" moments, but that's ok
because i was there and i thought it was funny :)

Aw man, tonight's my last night of being 18....how sad :( I liked being
18, it was so much fun, especially when you get a debut and you get to
where a pretty dress and have a big meal and celebration for entering
"womanhood" (well that's how i always saw the Filipino tradition). So
ya, this year....there's nothing really .If i was back home I could drink
legally, but that doesn't really matter that much to me because I dont'
drink alot anyway. Oh just now Matt was buggin me about being old. I'm
not old! 19 isn't that old, it's just closer to being seen as an adult.
I think that once you've past 20 you're definately an adult, even
though you may not act or think like one. I think that I'll always act and
think like a teenager, that's my theory. But ya, the next time I write
to you I'll be 19.....goodbye 18 year old Earlene!!!

Wonderin' Why - TobyMac

SUN. MAY 8

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Mom, I love you!! Did you get my card yet? Just wondering :)

Anyway, um, not really alot happened. I spent most of my free time
reading and working on my Psalm 27 bible study. So, ya i've been in "nerd
mode" pretty much all day. I also wrote 2 letters today. So ya, if you
send me your mailing address there's a 100% chance I'll write you back
and most likely you'll recieve a cool letter/card/postcard or whatever I
feel like sending @ the time :)

Whoah! My birthday is the day after tomorrow.........crazy!! Hey, I
remember when me, Kev, Darcel, and Becky all watched that movie ("The Day
After Tomorrow") and i think we ended up going to Denny's @ like 2:00
in the morning. Thanks Becky for sending me those pictures :)

SAT. MAY 7

Hey i just got an e-mail from my mom, she misses me.......AW!! so now I
miss her, and want to cry...*sniff* i"m OK! But i send her a mother's
day card 2 weeks ago so hopefully it gets there in time.

Oh there's one part of her e-mail that really irked me, she told me
that my friends back at church didn't ask her or my dad about their trip
to NZ nor have they asked about how i'm doing. A couple of them i get
e-mails from (and I definately appreciate that) so there's no real need
to ask my parents, but still. Just the fact that it seems like a couple
of my friends (I know who you are) cant' even be bothered to e-mail me,
write me, or even ask my parents how I"m doing. So ya, I'm not very
impressed by that. But of course they probably won't get the hint because
I've been asking those who do contact me to remind those who don't AND
I've been hinting that I miss them and what not on the blog, but they
dont' even check that!! So what's the point?! I might send them another
"reminder" e-mail, but at the moment I'm just not too impressed. I
guess that shows who your real friends are...

I am however totally impressed at the fact that I got Becky's package
last night! She send it like end of Feb/beginning of March, somewhere in
there. I was thinking that it would be cool if I got the package on my
birthday, but 4 days ahead of time works just fine for me :) Here's the
contents of the package, along with my thoughts on each "random" item:

photo CD of me and Becky's "adventures"=this is probably the least
random thing in the box, i haven't looked at all the pics yet but i did
check out a few of them last ngith and it totally made me miss my house in
S'toon nad Becky too :(
pics of Becky= *sigh* oh Becky, I miss you!!
A Krispy Kreme hat= sadly I've never actually had this delectible
treat, now if she would have actually sent me a Krispy Kreme...
a clear duct tape wallet= I'm assuming she made it herself, which is
awesome!! She said it's for those people with no money because you can
see through it :)
clothes pins= Um, i don't know why she put those there, maybe as
package "filler"? I don't know. I'll probably use them to put pictures up by
my bed cause I"m on the bottom bunk here @ school.
forks= now these are not your typical fork, these are skinnier. Hmm,
maybe if i have food in my room I'll put them to good use, but sadly no
money + no ride into town = no snack food< /FONT >
stickers= I thought these were cute because they kinda had a jungle
animail theme to them. i put the lion sticker in my day planner on May 14
because it'll remind me of Aslan, cause that's when we're diong
Breakthrough
bubbles= this i knew was coming because she mentioned this on her blog,
this was the only thing that I knew was being sent to me. They remind
me of being little kid again :)
fish food= as in actually gold fish type crumbly fish food. Seeing as
we can't have pets in the dorm rooms, this isn't really applicable to my
life at the moment. However I am thinking of getting a fish when i get
back home and naming it Jubal because in Gen.4:21 he's the guys of all
those who play the harp and the flute. Me, being a saxophone player,
and all think this is relevent because sax is in the woodwind family and
so is flute. See the connection? Well if not, i do and that's all that
matter ;)
fake ants= Becky, I still have that fake centipede in my car @ home!
Becky has a thing with fake bugs so i think this is her attempt to get me
into them too. Either way, it totally doesn't matter to me cause it's
all fun and what not. So i stuck them to the roof of my bunk (remember I
said I was on the bottom one) so they look like they're crawling
around. Heheh!
Jones bottle cap lids=man, i could go for a Jones right about now. It
totally reminds me of the joke we had at camp: whenever you read a Jones
cap you're supposed to add "in bed". If you don't know what I'm talking
about dont' worry about it ;) My fav on that Becky sent me was: The
answer to your problems will soon be obvious to you.
chop sticks= this will definately come in handy tongiht bcause Soo's
cooking this weekend (along with some other people) and from what I hear
we're having Korean food. So ya, the chopsticks will be used :)
a blue ribbon that says "Outstanding"= I think that Becky put this in
just for kicks. But then again I AM "Outstanding" aren't I? ;)
a mouse trap= this, i don't even have a clue as to why it's in there,
none whatsoever. Hmm, maybe I'll use it to catch a mouse that might
come in my room like one did last term in our old room.
an orange rubber ball= i havent' actually had a rubber ball since i was
a kid. So this could be fun to play with if I ever got bored. Or I
could use it wake up my roommates...
3 Jazz Christmas CD's= I figure these are because you can listen to
Christmas music at ANY time of the year, i mean why not? Plus Becky knows
how much I love Jazz music (being a sax player and all). I'm listening
to one of them now, and I really like it.
a bar of soap= this was perfect timing because I had just ran out of
soap! Plus it smells like coconut and lime...yummy!
a peice of Starbucks leather= Becky works at Starbucks so that's
probably why she gave this to me. I'm thinking it came off a packge of coffee
or something like that. Everytime I go into the Starbucks in Hamilton I
think of her...
an Elmo PEZ container= sadly i don't ever remember having PEZ candy
growing up. But my Granny always had the containers with characters on
them and we would always play with them as kids. This just reminds me of
my childhood :)
tea bags/hot chocolate powder/apple cider powder= Yay for yummy
flavored hot drinks!!! I'm so excited to drink them. Yay!
a note which says..."If you put any more empty or half empty
containers in here-Baby Jesus will HUNT you down!!!"= this was probaby put in
there just to make me laugh, which of course it did!!

Well I think that's it for the package. I got an e-mail from her a
couple hours after I got the package asking if i got it yet and when i did
get it I was supposed to hide in the bathroom with it just in case I
would pee my pants laughing. Well that e-mail came a couple hours too
late becuase I ended up opening it with Erica, Jana, and Nikki as my
witnesses, plus we were also watching "The Lion, The Witch, and The
Wardrobe". And they pretty much laughed with me when i opened the package
.

THANK YOU BECKY!!! I LOVE YOU!!!

Yesterday was also Julia's b-day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIA!! Some of us
girls ened up giong to Hamilton and had Pizza Hut pizza and watched a
movie. We ended up watching "Kingdom of Heaven". I thought it was good
however I think it could have done without the blood and gore in the battle
scenes. Take for example you see a guy get shot in the neck with an
arrow and he's still running around. Plus the king of Jerusalem has
leprosy so he's wearing a mask. Once he has died, his sister ends up taking
off his mask and well....it's not pretty. So I didn't like it for those
parts. However the story line is pretty good. It's about a man who's
father was faithful to the king of Jerusalem so he follows his father's
footsteps and heads to Jerusalem. It's from the guys who made
"Gladiator" and that was a good movie. So my conclusion was that it was good.

That night when i got back to school i noticed that there was a new
e-mail for me. It was a picture of Larry Boy which totally made my day!

Then i also noticed that there was something in my mailbox. It was a
letter from Krystin and I always end up crying when i get e-mails from
her. So i went into my room to read it. It was a brithday card, a letter
and grad picture of her. I had only read the card and i burst into
tears.........I MISS YOU KRYSTIN!!! So ya that was another thing that added
to my awesome day. So all in all yesterday was pretty awesome!!

Oh I also found a little "goodie" in one of the Jazsz CD cases that
Becky gave me. It's a Keb Mo Sampler CD. I've never actually hear of Keb
Mo but from what I've heard on the CD he's kinda bluesy style. So that's
good! :)

My Day - VeggieTales

FRIDAY MAY 6

I've been having the same dream the pat couple of nights. I can't
really re-call all of the details but from what I remember the basic theme
was that I was supposed to be dressed up as a tree in Narnia, which is
what we're basing Breakthrough on, and as I was being dressed up as a
tree I was supposed to hold a jewel or some sort of necklace.. My friend
Nikki has a little "word association" game that she uses when we tell
her our dreams. It doesn' t really mean anything, i mean her strategy is
just for fun but i used that and here's what I got from my dream:

Tree=life and growing
Jewel/necklace=rich, money....???
Narnia=Breakthrough=school=New Zealand

So I took that to maybe mean that I'm supposed to stay here anoher 6
months, cause I've been considering it the past couple of weeks. Then i
would grow in my spiritual life because i would be at bible school.
But then again the real reason that I've been dreaming about Narnia is
because I've been thinking about it alot. Last night i listen to "The
Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" in CD form and i started reading the
book too. i'm doing all this just so I have a better understanding of the
whole story line. So ya my dream probably didn't mean anything. But i
did have fun "analyzing" it :)

Jesus Freaks/Dismissed - SmashUps

WED. MAY 4

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPH! Apparently there's going to be surprise birthday
party for her in the Homestead Lounge tonight after we have a couple
hours of working on Breakthrough. So ya that'll be fun :)

Oh, speaking of Breakthrough, I hear from the costume crew that the
beaver's get snouts. yay! But they're made from paper mache and they stink
too. So ya, that'll be fun to deal with. :) It seems like the more
details I hear about Breakthrough the more excited I get...I"m SUPER
excited though. Cause i know this'll be a great "production" and the kids
will learn about God's love for them in the process.

Well i think Dan's having a little too much fun being a wolf. His role
(as well as Graham and Lance's and a coupld of the other guys) is to
scare the crap out of the kids here when the kids aren't at a station
doing an activity. So about half hour ago, Dan and Mark decide to take
"practice" scaring me. I almost peed my pant.........no kidding!! I was
THAT frigthened, but then again I'm alot more jumpy than the average
person. Maybe that's why. But i was still freaked out and now I have this
strange feeling that someone is standing behind me just waiting to jump
on me....

TUESDAY MAY 3

One more week! Yay for me, oh and Angeleah too because we have the same
birthday. Hooray!

Oh I've now decided that I want a laptop for Christmas. Mom and Dad if
you're reading this, that's what i want. Plus it could also count for a
birthday present too :) But ya, the idea came to me becuase i was
borrowing my roommate's lappy for my "Doctrine of Sin" and I've discovered
that lappy's are really handy when everyone else is hoarding the
computers in the computer room. But ya, i really want a lappy someday...

no song title for today

MONDAY MAY 2

Hey! Guess what's in 8 days........well either you don't know OR you've
forgotten. It's my birthday in 8 days! yay for me! How crazy is that?!!

I wish you could all come and visit me and see the craziness that is
Capernwray NZ. I mean in the next room, Graham's on the drums, Jordan's
on the guitar while Matt A. is on the keyboard except that he can't play
any instrument so he's just playing the demo's on the kayboard and
jamming to them.

Oh the other day i went into Hamilton on Saturday and i bought a couple
of things. Yes i might have splurged on a few items however i do have
my reasonings behind each of them.

A blue and black dress: because Grad is coming up in about a month and
a half, and it was $30...on sale!!
Plus it's a really pretty dress and I have been known to like being
pretty at times ;)

Lord of the Rings, all 3 books compacted into one book: because it was
on sale for $9.99 I"m not kidding!! so ya i couldn't pass up that sale
so i bought it. I"m excited. I tried to read the 3rd book once but it
didn't really work for me. Apparently you gotta start reading from the
first book, which does make sense...

The Chronicles of Narnia, all 7 books compacted into one big book, $75:
I know what you're all thinking, "that's insanely expenseful!!" but I
got 2 really good sales that day so that evens out my splurge on that
one, it's hardcover and we're doing Narnia for Breakthrough. It's a huge
splurge but i figure it's Chronicles of Narnia by C.S.Lewis and it's
totally worth it. I've read the first 2 books in the series and loved
them! So i defineately thought that was worth it :)

Oh during 2 week break i really wanted to cut my hair to the length
that i first had it when i moved to Saskatoon, like just slightly past my
chin. But now I"m thinking about growing it out. Just because I've
never really had long hair, i mean hair that was distinctively past my
shoulders. so I might try growing it out, just to see what happens. Plus
now that I'm rooming with Soo, who is Korean ,I'm noticing that i like
black hair. Now some of you may argue with me that my hair is black
already, however it's my hair and i KNOW it's dark brown. I dont' care what
you say, it's naturally dark brown. so ya since I've never had black
hair I'm thinking that after school i might dye it black and get some
"face framing" layers. I probably would dye it now, however it's kinda
discouraged to dye hair while you're at school, plus at the moment it's
just an idea. So ya, that's my probable plan for the moment.
