The Answer To The Question-Tree 63

FRIDAY FEB 11

Hey! Well, as you have been reading my blog in the past few days you've been kinda getting the idea of what life at Capernwray New Zealand is like.

So this afternoon we had off, no classes/lectures because it was Friday, so me, Eric Schilling, Graham, Stacey and Ruth all decided to walk to Cambridge which is about an hour in walking terms. Driving there only takes about 5-7 minutes but we felt like walking cause then we could entertain ourselves on the way there. 'Twas quite fun and got some sweet pictures with random signs. My favorite one is a bright pink sign with a seatbelt buckle on it saying "Click itor Ticket". It's awesome.

We did some shopping in Warehouse which is the New Zealand equivalent to Walmart and SAAN store. Yay for cheapness. I bought an insane amount of stickers there. So if you want me to write you a letter, you gotta write back though, just e-mail me your mailing address and you will most likely get a letter immersed in stickers. And i also got a cool shirt and a really awesome classical music sampler which I'm listening to at the moment.

Then after that we had supper at a real fish and chips place. It was real fish, none of this processed business. Totally good! i recommend it if you ever travel to NZ. Then we took some random pictures with the statues that were in town. And proceeded to CountDown which reminds me alot of Extra Foods/IGA and those type of stores. What I really want to buy one day is this really cool lookin cereal that they have there. It's called "Eat My Shorts" and it's got a picture of Bart Simpson eating cereal bits in the shape of shorts. I really want to try it someday.

After that we headed home, however it started to rain. The rain at the time was kinda refreshing as we were walking. Then we ended up catching a ride back to Capernwray with one of the staff members here. So it was kinda like we were hitch hiking but not really...anyway we made it fun.

Now the rain is just coming down. so much for putting my clothes outside to dry, they're probably even more wet now than they were in the washing machine. i'm not too worried though *shrug*. It happens.

So I think the plan for tomorrow it that we're going to eat Tim Tams and do Tim Tam Slams and transfer pictures from my camera to Graham's computer so that's cool. Yay for crazy friends. There might even be a bit of "Family Guy" watching 2morrow cause Graham's got it on him computer.....shhh! Don't tell anyone k? ;) I'm excited for that if it's happening..

it's only 10:30 at night here..and curfew isn't until midnight on Fridays...why am i so tired??

I didn't realize how much i missed listening to classical music until i got this CD. I used to listen to 105.5 FM in S'toon cause then it kidna kept me focussed on classical music for my audition for U of S. Classical music is just so relaxing and comforting and peaceful and the perfect studying music. Ah, it's just so nice.

Oh speaking of studying our very first bible study was due today. The past few days were a couple of confusion, too many questions, and i think people were looking WAY too much into the deeper meaning of the passage. like WAY too deep. Maybe that's just me cause i did my best and if i fail horribly well then it's a learning experience right?? I'm not too too worried but hopefully mine goes over well. i haven't been to actual classes and school in 7 months and it just feels so weird to just be throw back into it again when i've been out for so long. Does that make sense?

i guess that's it for today. Hopefully something interesting will happen tomorrow. Back again just to tell you guys that there's always singing going on over here. Whereever you go there's always someone singing. The "staple" song that most of the guys sing is "A Whole New World". I'm really amazed that they know those lyrics. I love it. I know I've told many of you this but..OH THE CHARACTERS YOU WILL MEET AT BIBLE SCHOOL!! *sigh* i love it here!

SATURDAY FEB 12

So I"m sitting here sweating like a pig, but I guess I'll tough it out if I *have* to e-mail you. The hair on the back of my knees s starting to curl so it's kinda weird, but a buncha people told me that when you turn 18 you start growing hair in weird places, such as, say, your back and the underside of your knees, but *anyways*, I should get goin'. O and guess what! I've gained 16
pounds since I arrived! YaY!!!!!! I love you al! Hugs and kisses! *mua*!

JUST SO YOU KNOW I DID NOT WRITE THAT LAST PARAGRAPH...GRAHAM DID, JUST TO be
DUMB : P

What i was trying to say what that I"m sitting here listening to beautiful Josh Groban and I was showing Simon how good Josh was. Simon said that if i head to judge Josh Groban based on his voice he would say that he's a sissy and a wuss. Then he said that JG sounds warm and soft...kinda like a pie. Or to be more specific... sugary apple plum sauce on an apple crumble pie. Oh the characters here!! Then he starts singing "Oh bring us some figgy pudding or a full helping of Josh Groban". LoL!!

Some of us just finished watchin a few episodes of Family Guy. Man, that totally made my day...totally reminded me of watchin it with my boys back in S'toon. Man i miss those guys. We watched "Too Sexy For His Fat" and the Petoria one.
"As you may be presently right now fully be aware of, my grammar sucks!" from the Petoria episode ;)
Oh you boys, in S'toon, know which one episodes i mean ;). So now i think the plan is that we're going to eat our pack lunches in the garden here. But for now we're just hanging out in the student lounge in the Homestead.

Lunch was good..yay for sandwiches and chips! w00t! Um, can't really think of anything else to tell you at the moment. But i think now me, Graham, Mark, and Stacey are all going swimming. Yay for a pool being here. Oh oh! I figured out how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the guitar. Well, from just picking at the strings and playing around on the frets. Guitar is such a cool instrument to play. you just pick it up an go. Not like sax though. With sax you gotta get the next strap on, adjust it, find a good reed, put that in the mouthpiece, adjust that, attach the sax to the mouthpiece and neck strap and again with the adjusting. *sigh* It's almost a hassle at times ;) but still worth it.

Oh here's a fun fact for you: our chef here actually used to cook in a hotel
resturant so the food here is usually pretty good. yay for good food :)

Apparently we're not supposed to be watchin movies on Saturdays....stupid Life File. That's are student handbook which has all the Do's & Don'ts of Capernwray. Like we can't put pictures on the wall, no out loud music except on Friday...stuff like that.

Oh Jake and Matt have a word that only applies to me and Stacey and our actions. It's called MEESING. Still not quite sure what it means, like what it means specifically but I"m sure I"ll figure that out within the next 5 months. :)

SUNDAY FEB 13

Last night, me, Ray, Graham, Ruth, Eric S., and Jake had a Tim Tam Slam fest and played some "mind games".

The first one we played what the Cow game. It's really hard to explain over an e-mail so I'll have to show you sometime when i get back k? It's a thinking kind of game and usually i totally suck at those types of things but surprisingly i caught on really fast. In fact i was the first one to catch on (besides Graham cause the one that was teaching the game)! Yay for me!

Then we played "The Dream Game". Now for those of you who were at camp this year you might know how to play this, for those of you who weren't at camp...I'll teach you later ;) In Ray's dream all of us were in the jungle wearing loincloths and fighting for a sandwich while mud wrestling and there were cows and a goat was watching too. LoL! Sorry, i guess you had to have been there.

Then we played "In Wally's World..." For example : In Wally's world you can have yellow and green but not black and blue. If you have played this then you know it's easy. I've heard of the game before i even before I came to New Zealand but the first time i played it i got SO frustrated that i quit and never figured it out. So this time when i played it, i was at the point of not caring anymore cause i was SO frustrated that i couldn't get it and everyone else caught on. Then i really listened to what everyone was saying and all the things that could be "In Wally's World..." and i caught on! (I'm not gonna tell you the trick cause that would ruin the game for you if you haven't played it). It took my about 20 whole minutes but i finally caught on to it. I felt kinda dumb cause the anwer was SO stinking simple... but everyone else was having fun laughing at my frustration, so maybe it wasn't so bad. :)

Today i went to chruch at Bridges in Cambridge. The church is actually called Bridges and me, Ben-German, Vicki and Matt A. are all leading the Extreme Team at that church. Basically it's Youth Group for 10-12 year olds. So it's more like Junior camps (at Stoney) then youth group but you get the point. Today we just hung out with the kids in the town square to just play some games with them ("I've Never" and "Moose" were the games) and just to get to know the kids alot better. They're sweet kids, a bit rambunctious at times, but what can you do *shrug*.

I kinda don't like the fact that i sorta have to go to Bridges church because I"m part of extreme team, cause i like being able to pick my own church, but I still like Bridges. Did that make sense? Basically i would have like to pick my own church but i still like Bridges. The church setting is really informal cause at first glance you may think it was a casual coffee house with Christian music playing. I like that, it's different.

Well Valentine's Day is tomorrow...and i probably won't have a Valentine from anyone. though I told Eric S and Ruth that I'd make them Valentines with the insane amount of stickers that i bought the other day. Oh and me, Ruth and Stacey are going to wear some extremely cheap tiara's that we bought at Warehouse tomorrow too. That'll be fun. But i'll tell you more about that later...

Oh if you're wondering what my phone number here at school is it's....
011-64-7-823-0108
or
011-64-7-823-0208
Just remember that I'm 19 hours ahead of you guys (if you live in Sask.). Please feel free to cal between 2-5 p.m. and 8:30-10:30 MY time. that's MY time. So if you call and the phone are just ringing and ringing either we're in lectures, eating, or of the premisis. So ya...feel free to call.

MONDAY FEB 14

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Even though by the time you read this it will be WAY past Valentine's Day, but it's the thought that counts ;). Oh two of my roommates got flowers for Valentine's day... Stacey got flowers from her dad and Amy for flowers from her boyfriend. I can't help but be a little bit jealous....but I'm going flowers from a guy someday. You just wait and see...

Anyway, as you all know Kiwi's (New Zealand people, just in case you didn't know that) speak english, however their "dialect" of english is a bit different. They have words that mean normal enlgish words. Observe...
jandles = flip flop/sandal
togs = swimsuit
torch = flashlight
trundel = shopping cart
That's all i know so far, but I"m sure I'll learn more along the way. Okay well i"ll probably be back later cause i really should get to my bible study or other such work.

Oh fun fact: there's 3 Eric's here at school so we kinda have to find nicknames to distiguish between all 3 of them. So far we only came up with a nickname for Eric F....Indianna. That's mainly cause he's FROM Indianna. If you're wondering why i thought of that it's cause I'm listening to the theme song from "Indianna Jones" at the moment.

Oh oh! Last night we also played "The Scissors" game. Remind me to teach it to you guys sometime k?

Oh my goodness!! I"m SO excited for tonight cause the guys are planning a Valentine's DAy dinner for us girls! OOOHHH! So excited! Apparently us girls are supposed to wear our Sunday best and smelly pretty. Well that's what it said in the invitation. Yay! I"ll tell you more about it when it actually happens....Yay!

Aw, i just had teh BEST Valentine's day ever!! First of all the guys all dressed up in their suits and ties...believe me...i almsot fell over cause they just looked SO good. Oh my! Then they escorted us to table and chairs that were set up outside for just us girls. Spencer was my escort..aw! They even had roses for us! I almost started crying cause not only did the boys look good they were been even more sweet than they usually were. AW! Then they served us chicken and veggies. and while we ate, Lance and Simon entertained us. Simon played his guitar while Lance sang "Hero" to all of us and he was even wearing a sombrero!! Fun fact: David has cuff links that said "Make love not war". He's married so that applies to him. I got picture with me and pretty much all my guy friends here. Aw, they just looked SO good...I LOVE guys in suits. SO good lookin! If i get a boyfriend by next Valentine's Day...well he's got HUGE shoes to fill.

WEDNESDAY FEB 16

This week here at school our speaker is Ray Andrews. He likes to emphasize personality types and how to use those for God. He's a really energetic speaker so naturally i like him as a speaker! Well last week we did a temperment test to see what personality we were. Now we got the tests back and I'm a "Social Feeler with a little bit Doer/Thinker". I"ll explain the definition of that later on cause it's lengthy and when you read it you will totally know it's me...

I"m a Compulsive Feeler with some Doer/Thinker...
I have a compulisive need for love, acceptance & Approval from my friends and I
need high amounts of social interaction.
I may find myself needing my own space & time out sometimes &will drain away. I have some need to meet your goals & ideas through my friends and enjoy a
challenge.
I need to watch subjectivity-reading life through the emotions.
I make otehr people feel loved, needed & wanted & they would enjoy being with
me.
I like to be the center of attention, are a people-pleaser, enthusiastic,
outgoing, warm but would also be irresponsible & lacking in self discipline at
times.
I empathize well & are sensitve to the needs of others.

Sound like me??? Cause whenever Ray mentioned the behavior traits of a Feeler, i knew exactly what he was talking about. yay i know more about myself! i went up to my friend Jamie and told him "I'M COMPULSIVE!!" Of course i explained why to him but i think i scared him in the process. Hehehe! Mission accomplished ;)

FRIDAY FEB 18

Yesterday was a day full of, well i guess you could call them adventures.

First of all there was about 30 of us that decided to donate blood for the blood bank. It was my first time donating and I wasn't scare of the needle at all. No worries. Except Bianca and Nikki ended up fainting afterward so that wasn't too good. I personally thought it was fascinating how they can take blood out of you, mix it with some kind of chemical so that it doesn't turn to gel and give that to someone else to use. I feel like I've contributed to NZ society. It's a
great feeling.

I was feeling fine until the ride home. Remember how i said that NZ roads don't work well with me? Well by the time we got back to school i was feeling quite dizzy and wasn't really looking forward to our family night where we had to drive about an hour to Mt. Maunganui. But I was able to just chill out for about half an hour before we left so that calmed my body a bit.

While waiting for our families to leave, Ben English (there's two Ben's here at school, Ben-German and Ben-English [those are their nicknames], you can just guess where Ben English is from) taugh me, Dan, Katie, Vicki, and Soo how to play Screaming Ninjas. I'll have to show you sometime. Such a funny game!

So we got everyone from our family organized and we were off. There was one van taking our family and then Steph took me, Laura and Katie. The scenery as we were driving by was really sweet and i started taking pictures of it. I knew i should have done that cause when I'm in a moving vechile and it's on winding roads and I"m looking at something small (like reading or looking at my pics on my camera) i tend to get dizzy. Well I just stopped with the pictures, turned on some tuneage (music) and tried to have a nap but i could still feel the car moving all over the place cause of the roads. So my head wasn't feeling too great.

We got to Tauranga/Mt. Maunganui and then we ended up loosing the van and we kinda lost and there were so many roundabouts that we had to go around, and that was totally adding to my dizziness. Then we finally stopped and Steph had to open my car door for me cause....well let's just say....the next minute my lunch was on the side walk..Yuck, not a pretty sight but i did feel better and not as dizzy!

Then as soon as I was done my thing, our family found us as we went for some real fish and chips. None of this fake preservative frozen fish and chip business back home. Here if you get fish and chips you get the real deal all wrapped in newspaper, like when you take it out, cause i guess that keeps the grease doesn't get all over the place. So incredibly good and filling and we also ate it on the beach so that totally added to teh effect. An actual fish piece is about 4 x 6 inches big. That's pretty good compared to the boxed type fish and chips you guys are probably eating back home. Fish SO good down here!

As we were eating our fish & chips there was a bunch of seagulls there and i got a couple videos of them to show all you Finding Nemo fans out there. "MINE"!! Oh you'll know what i mean when you see the videos...

The scenery was so nice at the beach cause there were a couple large rocks close to shore (kinda like mini islands) that were a sweet foreground to the purple, pink and blue sky. Don't you worry, the pics will either be shown to you & they'll be on the blog when i get back.

Then we proceeed to go to the hot springs at the base of Mt.Maunganui. It reminded me alot of the mineral spa at Watrous except these pools were outdoor and they were heated with the heat of the volcano, cause Maunganui is actually a small volcano. It is awesome to just relax in the water and chill out. After our dip in the hot springs most of the people in my family pigged out a bit on waffle cones at an ice shop called Copenhagen Cones. So good. I think they even
make their own cones cause i saw a waffle press in the window.

On the way home it was darker so the winding roads didn't affect me as much. Oh funny story! So Steph was driving again and there were some pylons in the middle of the road. She said that she always wanted to drive with the door open and knock some pylons down. Of course the rest of us said she should do it cause it would be funny. so of course she did!! I think she even knocked quite a few down. It was awesome!

Man I think everyone should get a massage when they are typing! Ruth and Stacey were just giving me a sweet massage.

Anyway i think tonight my Extreme Team is taking the kids to the LADS concert. LADS are a Kiwi Christian rock band so I'm pretty excited about that. Oh speaking of live performances, there's a Shakespeare in the park thing happening Sunday morning at 4:00. Ya you read that right, 4:00 IN THE MORNING is when the thing actually starts. I'm kinda excited cause not only is is Shakespeare but it'll be cool watchin a play with the dawn. That just even sounds cool!!
Well just got back from the Lads concert. I liked them, mainly cause me and some girls from school were all dancing around have a good time dancing around and just having fun. Hopefully our Extreme Team had fun because most of the kids left before the concert was over. Oh and i also bought one of their CD's, I'm excited to show you guys it. I think they're pretty good. I guess i could describe their style as pop/rock/upbeat type of music. There were also two other
bands that played Holy Rollers and Zebulun and they were pretty good too.

*sigh* kinda tired now and Ray's been bugging me since i sat down at the computers..*sigh* such craziness...

Good Luck With The "The Big Update"!

Hey kinda walked into town just now with a bunch of friends from school. It took us about an hour to get here. *sigh* now I'm tired. oh well. So if you keep reading you will see that i updated the blog with a huge massive sized post.

This post is not for the rushed kind of people. Feel free to read what I've been up to and hopefully I"ll be able to update more next week cause again we don't have internet at school and if you wanna contact me just e-mail me at earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz okay??

Have fun reading ;)

The BIG Update...

FRIDAY, FEB 4

Okay so some of you are still wondering why can't you get my e-mails.........IFYOU HAVE A HOTMAIL ACCOUNT MY E-MAILS FROM MY CAPERNWRAY ADDRESS WILLAUTOMATICALLY SO IN THE JUNK MAIL FOLDER....so you can fix that later on. Yes iknow i haven't been e-mailing many of you, and if i have, you haven't beene-mailing me. Yes, i understand that you may have had final exams and friendsthat you need to hang out with, however you do realize that i am taking my timeto e-mail many of you with the mass e-mails, so i guess it's only fair that youcan at least send me and e-mail saying that you are alive. I definatelyunderstand how Giselle felt when she was away from home...Zelly, i know exactlyhow you feel.

Anyway last night was very interesting. Here at Capernwray they put us into"families", basically many of us students are paired up with a staff member andtheir family and we just spend a few hours a week just hanging out. I'm in theRedwood family and last night we played many games such as...

An eating game-which is where you have to pull out a food item from a bag (humanfood, none of this dog food, sick stuff business) and eat it as fast as youcould to win. Some of the food items include a meat pie, a juice box, a kiwi, anapple, some chips, food like that.

Then we played Actionary, which is like pictionary except you have to act outwhatever that thing is. So me and Steph had to act out Princes Diana for ourteams. I made a crown/tiara motion with my hands then proceeded to act out a carcrash...i think I hit my head on the floor, oh well. My team figured it out.Yay! Another time me and Steph had to act out a video camera however i saw theword "bullfighter" on the card. So was running into the walls and curtains andno one got it because i was supposed to be doing a video camera, ya we all had agood laugh.

We also took some pictures of the sunset because they are very pretty andcolorful that you just have to take pictures whenever you see them.

Then we did Tim Tam Slam. ok a Tim Tam is a cookie. Um, just picture a square Oreo, except with chocolate cream in the middle and then coat the whole thingwith chocolate...that's a Tim Tam. Tim Tam Slam is where you bit oppositecorners of the cookie, dip one end in hot chocolate/coffee and you suck thechocolate creamy center through the other bite mark. Then you put the wholecookie in your mouth cause it's starting to melt. Then you have this meltedchocolate goodness....and it's amazingly good!! I'll bring some home if youe-mail me and ask me nicely ;)

Then we played Water Spoons which is exactly like the card game spoons howeverif you don't get a spoon you have to drink a glass of water. I lost some skin inthat game cause i dove for a spoon and i dove on some carpet, now i have a skidmark on my elbow. Yay for me! There was also some water thrown around but it wasall in good fun. I"m totally excited for the next Family Night in 2 weeks time.

Well Bible school and actual classes officially start next week. It just seemslike alot to take it with all the Life File rules and the getting used tolectures and book studies and bible studies and writing up testimonies andliving with people and other things.

Oh one of the cutest things they have here is "morning tea" which is a littlesnack time after breakfast and before lunch. Usually it's coffee/tea or waterand cookies/cake of some kind. So that's something different, but maybe it's inall Capernwrays cause i asked Trent about it and he said they had it in England.Anyway i really hope some of you guys e-mail me soon, cause I'm kinda missingyou guys. Bye 4 now & God bless!

Well tonight's Friday Night and I"m totally exhausted 'cause i was in the poolplaying a hard core game of water polo this afternoon. *sigh* It was guys vs.girls and trust me, us girls got totally schooled. For those of you who don'tknow what that means, we lost horrible, and i mean HORRIBLY. But it was tons andtons of fun! It was great.

Funny story: I just walked into the student lounge and there's Steve and Lanceblowing up this blue thing. The blue thing was actually a kiddie swimming poolthat the guys bought earlier and they were blowing it up to use in our poolhere. They were able to get it blown up and they did put it in the pool. Stevekept on saying "It's like having pool party in a pool party" Um, actuallythat's not quite the right quote, but it's close enough and I'm sure you get thepoint. Just picture two fairly big guys in a kiddie pool and that kiddie pool isfloating in an outdoor swimming pool. Quite funny.

So tonight I think the plan is that we're going to play Capture the Flag, Kickthe Can, and then a pool party. The good times just never end here atCapernwray. I'm really tired though. Talk to ya l8er.........

Well the plans for capture the flag fell over because it was kinda raining, however there's still a pool party going on as we speak. Yay for them!

Since i really wasn't interested in doing the pool party thing, remember i hadjust gotten out of the pool, i decided to just walk around and see what i could see. i went into the Homestead Lounge and thought "I just might have to brush upon my piano playing skills". Thinking I would find the classic songs like "FurElise" and "Moonlight Sonata" i dug around in the piano bench. What i foundthere was even better than those songs.

After some diging I found words on the the music sheet that read "I am yourangel of music". Now if you know anything about the things that i just love tothe point of obession, you will know that those are part of the lyrics to "AngelOf Music" which is a song from "Phantom of the Opera". I was in complete shock!!How in the world could Capernwray have these notes to the songs that i just lovehearing, and that i heard on my way to Capernwray...how weird is that!! Aftersome digging around some more I was able to find the complete sheet music for"Angel of Music", "Think of Me", and "Phantom of the Opera". I was able to findparts of "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" but i think i'm still missing asheet or two.

So finding those notes totally made my night, and now i think some friends ofmine are going into town to get some ice cream. I asked them to get me a fruityflavored kind, which is really quite vague but if i get some weird funky flavor, meh. You all know me...I"ll eat it anyway. if it's totally rank, well then i canat least say that i tried it right? Anyway hoping to add more to this soon....

SATURDAY FEB 5

hey! Well last night we finished off on a good note because about 10 of uswatched "Napoleon Dynamite". If you haven't seen it get some friends togetherand make a weekend out of it. I"m serious! You gotta watch it.

Today was Saturday and every weekend is like our free times. It's pretty sweet. So a bunch of us headed out to Waihi (pronounced Wah-he) Beach which is about anhour and a half from Capernwray. I was kinda feeling light headed on the waythere cause it was on a winding road and i can't really deal with those toowell. No i didn't get sick, just a little dizzy.

On the way there, all of us in the Susan's car were listening to Dan's Epicsoundtrack CD, which was as compilation of a bunch of sweet soundtrack songsfrom "Master and Commander", "The Passion of the Christ", "Black Hawk Down" andof course a bit of "Lord of the Rings". It was pretty sweet listening to the"LOTR"'s soundtrack while driving down the New Zealand country side. Great experience.

Fun fact: J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S Lewis were really good friends back in the day.Actually Tolkien was the one who led Lewis to Christ. How cool is that??

Once we got to Waihi it was raining. Plus I saw a bunch of dead jelly fish onthe beach. Kinda cool. We had to make a little 40 minute long hike to a secludedbeach. The hike itself was, um, interesting. And some thought that the trails atcamp were bad in the rain, not compared to what i dealt with today. There was mud and trunk roots and lots of fun stuff like that. I'd do it again except not inflip flops. Don't ask why i didn't bring my runners. Anyway it was still fun andthere were tons of great views.

Once we actually got to the secluded beach the 1st thing i did was pull a"Chariots of Fire". If you dont' know what I'm talking about there's a scene inthe movie where there's a race on the edge of a beach. So i did that, i ranalong the beach with the waves crashing at my feet. I even got a sweet pictureof me and my friend Ben running along the beach (we call him Ben-German causehe's from Germany).

After some lunch me, Becky, Ronaele, Dan, and the two Eric S's went, what icall, wave jumping. It's where you stand in the water and wait to a wave to hityou except you try to jump up before it gets you. Really fun especially when thewave is pushing you one way and the under tow is pulling you the other way. Someof the waves were about 10ft high but of course they went down once they hit us.We had tons of fun. Then we tried sitting on the beach as the waves hit ushowever we ended up getting a whole lot of sand up our swimsuits which was quiteuncomfortable. LoL!

After hiking all the way back to the main beach we hit a cafe and as soon as wewalked in Simon and Nick started raving about the mochacinnos and blueberriemuffins and Simon gave us the sales pitch for it. Those two guys were thereahead of us that's why they knew what we should get. So we ordered some ofthose, and i really liked it. The mocha was really good cause you got to putsome marshmallows in it too, and trust me i know my mochas ;)

On the way home i automatically fell asleep cause i really didn't want to dealwith the winding roads again. But we were still listening to the epic sountrackmix CD and i woke up at a really cool song from "Master and Commander" where aviolin sounds like it's skipping over the strings.

Once we got back to Capernwray the first thing i did was take a shower cause ijust needed to get rid of all the sand that i had accumulated on me today. LoL!Anyway i gotta go now. But I'll let you know what happens later!

P.S. Just so you know i usually put the song that I'm listening to and who it'sby as the subject lines as on most of my e-mails so I thought I'd just do thesame for my blogs because then i dont' have to think of a creative subject line.

SUNDAY FEB 6

Well here I am again. What I'm gonna do it just write a really huge account ofwhat I've been up to, send it to my hotmail account then post it on my blog.Because i don't know if i can post blogs from my Capernwray e-mail address, soI'll probably update the blog about once a week and that'll be the account of myadventures from the week. If you want to know more that's easy...E-MAIL ME! ifyou haven't caught on to what my e-mail address is yet it's earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz

What we're doing here at Capernwray, well at least for the first 3 Sundays, ischurch shopping. Basically you can just go the church that you choose after 3weeks of shopping. The one that went to today was called Raleigh ChristianCentre. It reminds me alot of the Ebenezzer and Emmanuel Baptist churches inSaskatoon. Anyway the music was really sweet and the people were really nice andfriendly. I really don't wanna shop around for another church cause i reallylike that one.

Oh so i told a few people about the story of my name. If you don't know it it's:Since i was born early in May my mom named me Earlene May. Get It? I'm serious! The funny part is is that i heard that story from Shelby who heard from Glenna(her mom) who heard it from my mom. So in a sense, that may not be entirelytrue, but knowing my mom i wouldn't be surprised ;) So i told David & Marsha(the married couple @ school) and Graham that story. Graham just can't get overit, he thinks it's hilarious. LoL! oh well, at least people are having fun withit! Oh i also gave Graham a Tim Tam and now he's obsessed with it. And he's onlyhad one cookie!! And not even with hot chocolate!! *sigh* Oh the characters youwill meet in Bible School.......

So now i"m back at school, just killing some time. Oh another funny this idiscovered today was that i can talk to the people next door to us through thewall. I guess it doesn't really help that it's Graham, Matt, Adrian and Eric S.Me and Graham were talking through the wall. Hey doesn't that sound familiar??Remember when me and Kevin used to do that at camp? We'd talk to the walls andwe could hear each other from across the dining hall (our dining hall wasrounded a bit to the sound bounced off the walls). Good times. I guess I'll justhave to find something to entertain myself with for now....

MONDAY FEB 7

Right now I'm "supposed" to be studying because it's our 2 hour study period inthe afternoon. But do i feel like studying?? Of course not! LoL! Anyway, we haveweekly ministries here which last from now until July. We haven' t reallystarted them yet but we got notice of what groups we're in. I'm supposed to meworking with the youth group at Bridges Church. The Youth group is called"Extreme Team" or something like that. Now can you picture me doing somethinwith and "extreme team". I know many of you are laughing because you really cansee me doing something like that. HA HA! Oh well, it'll be fun, I'll be sure ofit.

Oh kinda of a sad story : remember how I auditioned for Music Education at U ofS?? And remember how i send that Prof. McNeil said that he knew someone inAuckland who might be willing to give me lessons on saxophone when I'm in NewZealand? Remember that? Well i contacted the U of S asking for this guy'scontact info, like the guy in Auckland. A few days later Prof. McNeil e-mails meback saying that the guy from Auckland quit working at the university there andmoved back to Canada. So that kinda sucks. *shrug* can't do anything about it though.

There's a music meeting here at school in a couple hours so see when each of us will be leading music during the day. Hopefully I can find some piano notes orsomething then i can transpose those notes to fit my Eb alto sax. *sigh* oh the joys!

Well I'll update with more info later (yes i know this is getting kinda long butjust bear with me because i don't think i can update my blog from my Capernwraye-mail and this seems like the easiest thing to do...as in just make one bige-mail and send that to my hotmail then send that to my blog. I know that I'm doing ;) )

Back again. some of the students here at school have laptops, but they can onlyuse e-mail like everyone else. This is kinda sad, me and my friend Graham arejust e-mailing each other back and forth. *sighs and shakes head*. Well it keepsme out of boredom. LoL!

TUESDAY FEB 8

Last night our ministry leader Hadassah, has us split into groups to make up adrama from scripture. My group chose to do Psalm 23 except we had two guyssinging the psalm. As in real singing! I was totally pumped because this wasgonna be awesome. Once we got back to the whole group of us, Hadassah had a few"curve balls" up her sleeve. She told some groups to act out their skits inballet/opera style and in western style. Believe me, seeing the scene of whenJesus walking on water in ballet style is definately someting else to see!!!LoL! Oh oh! And watching Shadrach, Meshach and Abednago in a western style!!! Ohman! so when it was our turn we were told to act out in Opera style. We kinda already had that covered cause ours was already narrated in a singing style. Ohya! Ours totally rocked! Remind me to show you the video. By the way we had Graham and Matt singing our version of Psalm 23 and at the end the word"forever" came out VERY high both or them. Quite comical!!

Um, today wasn' t really interesting. Last night we(as in my roomies and me) also found out that if you climb into our closet you can hear the guys in thenext room a whole lot better. However they don't talk about anything thatcatches my interest. But when they told us to be quite, that was when theystarted chatting 'er up! *sigh* That's guys for you! ;)

Today i ended up telling Graham pretty much the whole story of my "non-existent"love life, really weird cause i just met him yet he reminds me SO much of Scottthat i feel like i can trust him and tell him stuff like that. Maybe it's just abible school friend thing. But it's cool. And if you're wondering.....NO i don'tlike him, in that way. C'mon now!

Oh me and Nikki (one of my roomies) were plunking away on the student piano, just playing our different versions of "chopsticks" and i thought it soundedreally bad but we were still laughing at it. Then the door opened and Charlie come in and starts raving about how good we were playing. Huh??!! Oh well atleast he's having a good time with it.

Me and Stacey (another roomie of mine) spend about 10 minutes star gazing before i went on the computers to write this. It was fun just laying down and lookingat the stars. Still haven't seen the Southern Cross but i will eventually. Matteven showed me where Orion's head was and the club and the lion that go alongwith Orion. Man I'm tired...and I need a shower. LoL! Bye 4 now ;)

Taking A Break From School

well right now I dont' really have much to do on campus, cause i have about 3 hours of free time right now, so i was able to catch a ride into town. sorry i didn't update the blog until now...I don't think my e-mail at school will send e-mails to my blog which kinda sucks, so i might have to reduce myself to the mass e-mail deal until i can get the chance to go into town.

Dad e-mailed me and said that the church members back home find my blog "educational". Aw, I love my church back home.

Please e-mail me if you have any questions about what I've been up to, who I've been hanging around with, what are classes like, blah blah blah....you can just ask me. just make sure you send an e-mail to earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz okay? I hope that's as clear as mud to all of you.

Or if e-mail really isn't your thing then you can write me by snail mail:
Earlene Ulrich
c/o Capernwray Bible School
Box 702
Cambridge New Zealand

I think that should be right, please contact me ok?? I love and miss all of you *big hugs* bye!

earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz

Hey!! Sorry i didn't e-mail/ post a new blog sooner. I'm at school right now and even though i have a school e-mail address i can still check my hotmail everyone couple of days or so. Meaning if you want to e-mail me and get an answer right away, e-mail me at earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz OR if you e-mail me and want to wait about a week for my to write you back, use my regular e-mail address. However I really want you guys to use the earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz cause that way i can reply to you guys alot faster than before.
You're probably wondering what I've been up to the past couple days....well, the fact that I was going to bible school didn't hit me until i got off the bus in Cambridge which is a 5 minute drive from school. Then i was excited about school. and now i'm here!!!! Cambridge is a really "quaint" sort of town filled with bookstores, antuque shops, and other little shops like that. I've only been looking around there for a few minutes and when Capernwray dropped us off for lunch.

School is great so far, well actually classes really haven't started it's just that we've been getting alot of introductions to the place and the all the rules explained to us. Scenery here is beautiful. There's a garden and 3 main buildings. If you go to http://earlenemayulrich.blogspot.com and look on the side bar under schools and click Capernwray you can get an idea of where I am right now. I live in the middle biulding in the front corner of the left side. If that doesn't make sense
i can send you a picture. For recreation we have a swimming pool, a pool table (which really shouldn't be one cause it's SO old), library, computers (for just e-mail and assignment use), 2 student lounges, and i think my roomate just bought a car from a returning student. Ha! Now there is a car i can mooch rides to town from. Yay! Oh did i mention that my new e-mail addresss is earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz ?????

Speaking of roomates I live with 3 other girls, who are all from Canada. Pretty much everyone here is from Canada. Out of 63 students there are 47 Canadians. WAY over half of us are Canadians. There's a few Germans and Koreans and Americans and even a girl from Japan (even though she was born in Canada) so we're all living together at Capernwray so it's cool. There's about 3 people from Saskatchewan too which is pretty awesome it itself.

so far everything that's been happening reminds me SO much of camp. my kitchen duty after lunch is washing dishes, dating the leftover food, making sure the kitchen is clean....sound familiar??? Ya that's EXACTLY what i did this summer @ camp. Then my bathroom duty is exactly what i told the girls to do at camp. Most of the songs we have sung so far have been camp songs and just the outside atmosphere reminds me of camp, however it's alot greener here and a few less mosquitoes.

Speaking of singing songs, I apparently signed up for the worship team and I'm going to play my alto saxophone as soon as i know what i"m doing. I really wish i had my tenor...aw. Dad, remember i need to look for a SELMER ALTO SAXOPHONE when i get back k? Thanx :) Apparently I'm the only one i know so far here that can play sax...but you may never know. Anyway I gotta go now....e-mail me at my Capernwray address k???? If you didn't catch that the first 3 times it's earleneulrich@capernwray.org.nz Talk to you l8er!

P.S If you have a hotmail account this e-mail address will be in the "junk" folder but you can change that so it's not like that anymore....Hope to hear from you soon
