Why do I doubt God?

Well i have good news! I got my practicum lined up! here's the story for those who don't know the whole story...

For my course here @ SAIT, I am required to do a four week practicum workin in the Travel and Tourism industry. I decided to look into doing that practicum in a travel agency because that's what i'm interested in. I thought it would be nice to live @ home and do my 4 weeks at a travel agency there. so when i went home for Christmas i talked to the manager of the travel agency in Humboldt (which is the closest to home, 45 min drive from my farm) about having my practicum there. We e-mailed back and forth about this possibility for about 2 months.

A few weeks ago i was under the impression that that travel agency would not have things for me to do there for those 4 weeks. I was really bummed because i didn't want my effort and networking to be going to waste. I e-mailed her saying that i'm required to do some research on preferred suppliers, and maybe even do a few WestJet bookings. I was just hoping i could work there and still learn about the industry while still living @ home. At that point it didn't look hopeful for my to work there...

that night, I called my dad about that problem and he suggested that i call other places too. I also broke down and cried on the phone with him. He said that i was stressed out. And that i totally agreed on that part. So he gave me phone numbers of other travel agencies in my area and i called them the next day about me working there. I also phoned my godmother who works in Saskatoon about working with her. so i was trying to keep my options open and keep positive about this whole thing.

Today my class had our second practicum meeting and we got some paperwork and more information about practicum stuff. i knew i had to give more information to the agency in Humboldt that i was originally looking at. When i got home from my meeting today i called the agency a couple times and both times the manager was busy with something else. I got frustrated didn't even want to phone a 3rd time. I'm glad i did...

I phoned a 3rd time and the manager herself picked up. We talked about the e-mails that were sent back and forth, discussed the things that i could do for the agency, hers and mine expectations for those 4 weeks. The last e-mail that i got from her was to know if i wanted to work there. I was under the impression that i wouldn't have alot for me to do. However she was saying how i can do my research for deals, call car rental places, learn their computer systems, stuff like that....which is what i'm supposed to do in a practicum anyway. So we discussed me doing that. I asked her if those things are a possibility and if she wanted me to confirm me working there. She said that since those things were possible for me to do, that we could confirm it. So i gave her the dates that i wanted to work and they worked for her. So all in all i will be working in Humboldt for my practicum.

This whole process was hard for me because I like being in control ofthings and if things don't go my way right away i get upset and easily forget that God has other plans. This time He allowed it to work out that i can live at home and not have to rely on other people for accommodation. When i got off the phone with the manager of the Humboldt agency, i cried because things were working out the way that i hoped for. God is good! There wasn't really a point in getting frustrated and stressed about it....or maybe there was . Without those moments i wouldn't have realized that i needed God to take control of this whole thing. And i'm glad that He put me in those moments where i know that I need Him to make my plans work.

Moral of the sotry?

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition present your requests to God. And the peace that transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus our Lord." Philippian 4:6-7*

Now, just because i got a practicum lined up, doesn't mean that things are completely perfect in that part. Continue to pray for it. That I'll learn what i need to, that the people i will be working with will be open to my questions and concerns. Pray that it all goes well. Thanks guys :)

*this might be a little off because i wrote it from memory, as long as u get the jist of the verse

Finger Paints and Crayons

With chalk in hand she wrote her name across a board once bare
And then she sat behind her desk without a single care
And for fifteen minutes, she did not make a sound
Until the final student, had finally settled down
Then she stood before them, and told them all her name
And then politely asked, each student to do the same
Then without hesitation, she took papers from a sack
And placed them in two piles, one white, the other black
And deliberately quite slowly, with a slight, mischievous smile
She began handing papers up and down each aisle
And once each student had a piece; she continued within their sights
To gather to piles of crayons, one black, the other white
And then she took a painting, from beneath her walnut desk
Then placed a painter's smock, overtop her navy dress
And to no one in particular, she spoke in peaceful tones
"I've been working on this painting, for years in my own home."
She stood staring at the painting, it's brilliant colors mixed as one
Upon a vast horizon, the presence of the sun
It indeed was not a Rembrandt, a Picasso, or Michelangelo to say the least
But it nonetheless was beautiful; its presence spoke of peace
And no doubt that lovely painting, had taken so much time
For every color known to man, seemed to intertwine
And so it came with wonder, what they witnessed with surprise
The act that took them all of guard, done right before their eyes
With finger paints now gathered, and opened on her desk
She smeared the colors upon her hands, in an entangled awful mess
And then as though she'd lost her mind, she smeared her hands across
The painting once so beautiful...now a total lossIt did not make a bit of sense, they did not understandAs they sat and watched their teacher, wipe the paints from off her hands
And then she took the crayons, and went up and down the rows
And handed to each student, the colors that she chose
"Now," she told her students, "I want you to create
A picture filled with beauty, devoid of any hate."
Mouths dropped open widely; mumbles filled the room
And students looked to one another, as unasked questions seemed to loom
For the students with white paper, were given crayons the same shade
And the students with black crayons, had been given a raven-colored page
And how could one create splendor, with no colors to mix and match
The students were quite certain, their teacher had left out most the facts
"Teacher," a student's voice was heard, "I'm not so sure I can."
Staring at the white crayon, and white paper in her hand
Silence overtook the room; it eerily crept about
Causing the teacher's gentle voice, to erupt into a shout
"You each share the same problem, you each posses the power to resolve
But only the students with open minds will have the ability to solve."
Minutes ticked away, class was nearing to an end
And not one single student, knew quiet how to begin
And when the bell rang out, and they hurried to their feet
The teacher told them commandingly, to return back to their seat
"Before you leave this classroom, I think you each should know
For this assignment you receive a failing grade, for you have no work to show
And tomorrow and the next day, your assignment shall be the same
And those who fail my class, will have only themselves to blame."
The next day and the following, students weren't quite sure what to do
Until at last, a solution, began to surface through
When one student with his crayon and his paper both in black
Turned to the student behind him and asked,
"May I borrow that?"
The student hesitated, but then gave his crayon made of white
And ultimately the assignment, no longer seemed a plight
For students all throughout the class, switched crayons up and down the asiles
And certain that they'd found the solution, their faces lit with smiles
And just as every student began to draw, across and empty page
The teacher whom they'd all begun, to see as certainly quite strange
Collected all the pages and crayons, without a single mark
And then she spoke aloud, "Thank you, for bringing hope into my heart
You see, I wanted you to realize, that in order to create
A picture filled with beauty, devoid of any hate
You needed first to recognize, that a problem did exist
And that a practical solution, could be found within your midst
And that racism is a problem, each of us must face
Working all as one, before it's much to late
And with open eyes and open hearts, we must see the person, not the color of their skin
And come to the understanding, that racism has to end
For together we are family, we cry tears, we all feel pain
And though we may not look the part, that's exactly what we do
For crayons are just colors, that's all our skin is, too."
Students looked around the room, a variety of colors on their skin
As the point she was trying to make, began to settle in
The looks on their faces, readily explained
That they were trying to contemplate: that indeed they were the same
A nervous shuffling of papers, and coughs throughout the room
Portraying the vital image, that fighting over crayons was a stupid thing to do
It was then each student realized, the purpose of crayons and papers the same shade
Was to prove they needed the other color to fill their empty page

Silence seized the moment, as one student raised his open hand
And then spoke in hesitation,
"I just don't understand...
Why you took your painting, the one you seemed to enjoy so very much
Gathered up your finger paints, to destroy it in a touch."

Sadness filled her face, as a tear trailed upon her cheek
And in slow and heartfelt words, she began to speak
"To show you all that colors can be beautiful, but they can also destroy
Everything we love and work for, everything we each enjoy
And the destruction of something that I loved, was to make a point to you
That racism destroys the beauty in us all,
And that fighting over colors, is a destructive thing to do."

Soundtrack To My Life....With Commentary

Hello again. So I did think a couple of days ago. I think it’s a neat idea, kinda random and “That song’s not right at all!”-type fun. So I thought I’d do it again however make comments on the songs that appear. Why? Cause why not!

Soundtrack To My Life
IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool..

Opening Credits: Star War Main Theme
K, I know what you’re thinking….I didn’t pick that one on purpose. Amy, I’m serious! It just randomly came up. Dead serious! However, it would be uber awesome to have this my opening credits. I mean, who are we kidding here. Star Wars rocks!
Waking up: Pathetique-Beethoven
Hmmmm. Very pretty song. Would get tired of waking up to Classical music very quickly though.
First day of school: The Meaning of It All-Plankeye
Yes, what is the meaning of the first day of school? That’s the day that everyone looks at you, what you’re wearing nad judges you based on first impressions. Yes, what is the meaning of that?
Falling In Love: Mai-Josh Groban
Fall in love with Josh Groban?! heck yes! sign me up! don't know what Mai means in Italian or whatever langauge that song is in, but it's still a pretty song.
Breaking Up: The Boys of Summer-DJ Sammy
I told SCott this was my Breaking Up song and he said "That's horrible". Not sure exactly what he meant by that, but i thought it was funny.
Prom/Grad: Try Again- Aaliyah
No no. I don't think taht means i have to re-try school again. At least i hope not...
Life's OK: Black Water-Final Fanasty VII Advent Children Soundtrack
Um.....can't remember what this sounds like now that i'm not listening to it. I think it was either pretty or somewhat dark and sad. Can't remember...
Mental Breakdown: Follow Me-Apologetix
This is the Apologetix version of it so, if i remember correctly I think it's about James. Not sure what that has to do with mental breakdown though.
Driving: Lady-Holy Rollers
I can approve of driving to this song. Then again I know these guys from New Zealand so listening to friends bands in my car is always fun. Now if that CD would only work in my car. "I ain't looking for a girl, I'm looking for a lady. She's gotta love the Lord, or she can not put her name is" True story. That's how the song goes. It's quite fun. I remember going to their concert and during those lyrics the singer was looking right @ my friend Laura and once we realized he was looking @ her, we both started laughing....I miss Capernwray...
Flashback: Headlights on Dark Roads-Snow Patrol
k, don't really what this song sounds likeeither (most of this commentary is happening in class so that's why i don't remember what the songs sound like)
Getting Back Together: Another Arni Village-Chrono Cross
Um. Chrono Cross. Too much music for one video game. Seriously 3 CD's worth, but all the pretty songs are you Lappy and i think this is one of them
Birth of Child: Heaven-DJ Sammy
Yes Jason, I know the "birth of a child" part comes before the "wedding song" in this thing. I know. that's not my ideal, that's just how the form was. This song is very pretty. Scott thought it was appropriate for the "birth of a child" and i agree.
Wedding song: Eleventh Hour-Jars of Clay
This is a pretty song. Very pretty. Don't think I'll add it to my "Possible Songs for Weddding" Playlist....uh oh. I've said too much
Final Battle: Extreme Days-TobyMac
Now i don't think this is a suitable song for my final battle. Can't really think of what would be a suitable song....probably not the infamous "requiem for a dream" music that's definately over played. However i do like that song.
Death Scene: Called My Wife-Apologetix
Would this work for my death scene? I mean this version is about how Cain killed Able. Something to think about...
Funeral: My Hope Is In You-Third Day
I guess if i die, my hope IS is God, so this fits nicely
End Credits: Rukus Bringa- MG Visionary
Very fitting. A funky rap toon to finish off this random compilation of my life. Haha!

Attached is Scott's Soundtrack, I'm not gonna comment on it cause i don't want to get in trouble. So enjoy.Besides, these songs came from my computer so Scott didn't know some of them. So it wasn't as funny to him. But it was still fun.

Scott’s Soundtrack for His Life

Opening Credits: Maleguna Salerose-Kill Bill 2 Soundtrack
Waking up: Be Our Guest-Beauty and the Beast

The 90's

You're a 90's kid if:

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"

You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"

You remember when it was actually worth getting up earlyon a Saturday to watch cartoons.
You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

You remember reading "Goosebumps"

You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off"

You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

You danced to "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls...Females: had a new motto, Males: got a whole lot gay-er.

You remember the craze, then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books.

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not...

Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? was both a game and a TV game show.

You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green Ranger were meant to be together.

When playing power rangers with friends you fought over who got to be who............and still all ended up being Tommy.

You remember when super nintendo's became popular.

You remember watching home alone 1, 2 , and 3........and tried to pull the pranks on
"intruders"

"I've fallen and I can't get up"

You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates

You wore socks over leggings scrunched down

You remember boom boxes vs. cd players

You remember New Kids on The Block when they were cool

You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell"

You played and/or collected "Pogs"

You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere

You watched the original Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles

Yikes pencils and erasers were the stuff!

All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand

You remember when the new Beanie Babies were always sold out.

You used to wear those stick on earings, not only on your ears, but at the corners of your eyes.

You remember a time before the WB.

You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

You know the Macarena by heart.

"Talk to the hand" ... enough said

You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!"

You remember when everyone went slinky crazy.

When we were younger:

Before the MySpace frenzy...

Before the Internet & text messaging...

Before Sidekicks & iPods...

Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX......

Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night.

When light up sneakers were cool.

When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

When we recorded stuff on VCRs & paid $3.50 for a movie.

When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans.

When the Chicago Bulls were the best team ever.

Way back.

Tag.

Get Over Here!!!! means something to you.

Hide-n-Go Seek at dusk.

Red Light, Green Light.

Hangin with Mr. Cooper.

Beavis & Butt-Head

Wishbone.

Bill Nye the Science Guy

MR RODGERS!!!!

Who could forget

Where everyone wanted to be in love after watching The Wonder Years.

Under the Umbrella Tree

The Big Comfy Couch

Kool-Aid was the drink of choice.

Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school.

Class field trips.

When Christmas was the most exciting time of year.

When $5 seemed like a million, & another dollar a miracle.

When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday.

When Toys R Us overuled the mall.

Go back to the time when:Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'.

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!'

'Race issue' ment arguing about who ran the fastest.

Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly.'

It wasn't odd to have two or three 'best' friends.

Being old referred to anyone over 20.

A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery.

Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better.

It was a big deal to finally be tall enought to ride the 'big people' rides at the fair.

When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever.

When Ninja Turtles ruled the world.

Another Baby Sitter Club and Little Sister (Karen) book came out and you put your name on hold for it at the library.

When Aladdin was new, before the trilogy was complete.

Before we realized all this would eventually disappear

Who would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!!

Girls Are Like Apples

I got this in a Forward...

Girls are like apples on trees.

The best ones are at the top of the tree.

The boys dont want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt.

Instead, they get the rotten apples from the ground that arent as good, but easy.

So theapples up top think something wrong with them when in reality they're amazing.

They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the wayto the top of the tree.
