How do you spell Earlene? S-T-R-E-S-S-E-D

Well I have decided that it's been WAY too long since i've last blogged.

Last week was hell and a half for me. Not only did i have an Operations Final, a Tourism test, a computer assignment due, a business report due on an organzation that I've only heard of once since i started my report, I had roommate problems. And because of these problems I even looked into alternate places to live in Calgary. For those of you who just tuned into my blog, i live with 3 other girls in an apartment style residence dorm. One roommate (we'll call her Bad L) was really getting on mine and my other roommates nerves with lack of cleaning, strange friends of hers, and interuptions of sleep (this was for me cause her room is on the other side of mine). So we had a meeting with our CA and since Bad L didn't show up for our 1st meeeting we had ,we had to schedule another meeting that week so that we could discuss a room contract. Long story short, we ended up making the contract.

I was still really stressed out about having to actually deal with roommates that i re-scheduled an Ikea date with a friend to make a quick trip to my fav place ever.....Scott's house. Even though Scott was busy with school productions til 10 that Friday, i spent the majority of my evening with his brother and sister just talking about my situation and what's been going on in their lives. Plus i talked to his parents. They're so supportive, and it's been really great to have them as an "alternate family" cause my parents live back in Spalding. I did get to see Scott that weekend, and as usually he was the best. He let me cry and called me on being over-reactive (which knowing me is totally true). The more I see/be with him the more i'm convinced that i can't live the rest of my life with anyone else.

So i came back to Calgary, and on my way back i just prayed to God that He'll get me through my roommmate issues and that I'll learn to just trust Him with whatever comes my way. Plus it turns out that i've caught a mild case of stomach flu. Due to what? Stress. I've been throwing up every morning this week, which isn't good, however throughout the rest of the day i'm fine. I just don't eat as much as i usually do cause i don't want to get sick throughout the rest of the day. Plus not only was i stressed about the things i just talked about, i was also stressing about my future.

What aspects of my future, you ask? Marriage. Marriage. Marriage. Why that subject? 2 reasons.
1. I'm going to be a bridesmaid for my friend's wedding this weekend and whenever i see her and her fiance I get anxious about when that will be me and Scott
2. somehow me and Scott's brother Ben got on the subject on how Scott and Ben dicussed how Scott's going to propose. I don't know anything, cause Ben was a good boy and said nothing. I just think it's cute how Scott discussed it with his brother *blush*
See, I've been dating Scott on/off since i was 15 (approx. 5 years) and ever since then, i knew i wanted to marry him. Sounds silly to know who you want to marry at that age, but something deep inside me knew. Now I"m 20, he's 22, we have 1 year and 1/2 left of college and now I've never been closer to reaching that goal. I mean instead of living 8 hours away, i know live 1 and 1/2 hours and it's SO good. and basically i'm just anxious.

Actually to tell you the truth, i had a much longer blog typed up, but somehow only the above got saved. oh well. I did get a few things out of mty system, even if they disappeared into the nothingnes ofthe web. Basically if you're reading this, could you pray for me?
Pray that i find God's guidance and His wisdom through every situation that gets thrown at me.
Pray that i can fully trust Him
Pray that I know His plan for my life.
Prayer in general would be much appreciated.

Once again, thanks for listening to me :)

This Is Why I Want Nerdy Children!!

This is a long video, but definately a must see/hear.

Super Mario Whole Suite on Piano

Too many things to say about this guy...
1. Where is the piano music for this? i need it!
2. Amy, i know you're brain is going to explode when you watch this

3. He's blindfolded at the beginning parts
4. I have a craving to play video games now

Pathetic

well it's 2am on a Saturday. Why am i up? well once again one of my roommates has drunk people over. And by "once again" i mean this the same roommate that invited those strangers to sleep on our couch a couple weeks ago. Now, if i was going to Red Deer tomorrow i definately would not be impressed by the partying, however i'm not going there tomorrow so i mean it's not like i have an extensive schedule to fulfill tomorrow, i was just kinda hoping for a relaxing weekend in Calgary. But no.

The latter part of my evening consisted of watching "Secret of Nimh", talking to Scott on the phone and reading "Two Towers" for an hour. During my free reading, my roommate and her friends were in our living room ordering pizza and being drunk. And since there were kinda loud it was kinda hard not to eavesdrop while reading. They also had loud music playing in the room next to mine. And since i was eavesdropping i heard my roommate explain to her friends where our other roommates and I were this evening. She told them i was sleeping. Which if you think about it, if she knew I was sleep, why would she be really loud with her friends and crank her music which is beside my room? Why? because drunk people are stupid like that!! The music was pentrating my brain (now this was when i finished reading and was attempting to fall asleep) so much that i had to intervene and i asked her nicely to turn it down, and she did. So i appreciated that.

So what is the purpose of getting drunk? To forget your problems? To loose so much control of yourself that you dont' care how much of a fool you make of yourself? I've never been drunk and dont' ever plan to be, so i personally can't answer these questions. Mt thoughts...I dont' want to loose control of myself through alcohol. I just think it's stupid. Pathetic. I find no pleasure in being around drunk people, their actions are repulsive to me. Yes i do drink, however i DO NOT drink to get drunk. I drink because i know the people that i'm with will call me on it if i drink too much. I at least do it with poeple that i trust in that sense.

And besides, drinks are expensive! Two drinks is about what...$10? And pop is like $2? Somewhere in there? Now which do you think is more cost effective, DUH! The pop! It's not rocket science people! And if you really want to be cheap...go with water.

And while i'm on the subject of roommate frustrations, washing dishes is a concern for me. I really want to avoid having another
Dishwasher of Death experience again. been there, done that once too many times. Yet everytime i hint to my roommates to wash their dish pile that's growing in the sink, they claim it'll get done "later". "Later" comes and they are still not clean until a few days after "later". I'm not impressed. I mean i can kinda forgive them for it because they just got out of high school and haven't had much time living in the real world and living on their own, but really. Other than that....grow up children! Now if you're wondering if I wash my dishes, yes i do. My parents raised me to be clean. And when i get married and have a family of my own, i plan on being impecably clean as in Lysol disinfectant sprays and all that fun stuff. No, i am not a germaphobe, i just like a clean living space. No one wants to look at the soup rings on the inside of your pot, so just clean it. Bah!

There. Now i feel a little bit better now that i ranted about my roommates. And i have a feeling there's going to be more rants on the roommate subject. I'm sure of it. Now i just have to preoccupy myself with something until my tiredness takes over...

Lego Church

Now I'm sure that the majority of us has a set of small building blocks and we stacked them in various ways to produce different various shapes and what not. Well i think these people got a little bit carried away in building a church. However i DO give them credit for making it THAT cool!!

LEGO CHURCH..........
A few quick facts:

How long to build it? It was about a year and a half of planning, building and photographing.

How many pieces of LEGO to build it? more than 75,000

How big is it? About 7 feet by 5 1/2 feet by 30 inches (2.2 m x 1.7 m x .76 m)

How many LEGO people does it seat? 1372

How many windows? 3976

It features a balcony, a Narthex, stairs to the balcony, restrooms, coat, rooms, several mosaics, a nave, a baptistery, an altar, a crucifix, a pulpit and an elaborate pipe organ.

Now i have a craving to play Lego Star Wars.....

You Know Those Days Where You Just Want to Kill Your Computer?

So we all know that computers cause far more frustrations than we wish.
Now we can have our revenge on the blasted "magic boxes" without actually causing physical damage (because we all know that if we did ACTUALLY do this to a computer, we'd be owing someone alot of $$$).

I am aware that this game is in a different language, but you just have to click PLAY and then start beating up the computer.

Stupid Computer!!

Ragdoll Physhics

Have you ever had one of those moments when you want to through stuff against a wall, but you know you can't through stuff because you'll be grounded for the next year if you even think about breaking your mom's expensive vase?

If YES, then this is a site for you.....Ragdoll Physics

(Disclaimer: the author is not saying that George Bush is a horrible person...she just thinks this is a fun site.)

Why? (Please Take Time to Ponder)

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?

Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of its bottle?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why did Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It'! s all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?"

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

And my FAVORITE......
The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.

What Horrors Wait For Me, In This, The Phantom's Opera

Some of you may recall the strange affair of me mentioning that i was looking for to seeing the Phantom of the Opera. Well i finally saw it! Oh, i suppose you want to see what i wore, who i went with, possibly the set of the musical, and maybe some pictures from the Internet to give you an idea of what i witnessed on stage? Wish granted!

He's there! The Phantom of the Opera!! Now I know what some of you may be asking "Earlene there's a Phantom behind you, how do you plan on keeping your composure?!" To answer that : That's Scott in a Phantom mask that i bought in New Zealand, I'm not too worried. So that's the dress that i wore. And Jen if you are reading this, i didn't wreck the bridesmaid dress, dont' worry.

Down Once More to the dungeon of...the Bay? i don't get it. I will explain. The majority of mine and Scott's day was spent at West Edmonton Mall shopping around and since we had no where else to change into our formal attire (and since we parked near this entrance) we ended up changing in the public washrooms there. Slightly odd coming our of the Bay in a gown, but it happened and it was memorable.

Masquerade! Hide your face so the world will never find you...alright so technically we didn't wear masks to Phantom, but we did dress up all fancy like!

Now for some scenes from the musical...
(of course these are not the same actors/singers that we saw live, I'm just giving you a little bit of an idea of what we saw)

Um....It seems that none of my pictures are loading properly. Sorry about that. I guess that's all the pics that you'll be able to see for now. That really sucks. Maybe i can update later....

However i can still tell you what went through my mind watching the Paris Opera house being revealed on stage in Edmonton. Alright, if you know anything about POTO, you know that it begins with an auction and as the auctioneer reveals the restored chandelier it starts to rise out from under its covers and is suspended over the stage. Now me being a HUGE POTO fan, i knew that whe nthe chandelier started to rise, the Phantom's musical theme starts to play. As you dcan probably guess i was extremely excited to watch the show and when i heard that opening chord of the Phantom's theme, i wanted to cry! It was just that beautiful. I honestly think i did shed a tear. Even just listening to the music now brings me back to last weekend and i still get chills from it.

Even just the set changes between scenes blew my mind. Scott figured that the longest set change was about 10 seconds. My favorite scene? As if you had to ask! Of course it's when Christine is taken into the Phantom's lair on a boat, which on stage looks like the boat is floating on smoke. Oh and when the candleabras (you know what i mean) come out of the sides of the stage to create the Phantom's lair, it just adds to the effect.

In conclusion....I want to see it again!!!!!

Oh The Joys of Dorm Life

Currently it's 5:30am on a Saturday.

Why am i up this early?

Well, short version- i couldn't get back to sleep after going to the bathroom

Long version- my roommates were having a party last night and when i came back from my Capernwray "get together" there was strange people in my living room and kitchen when i walked into out "apartment" (i live in Rez). And since there were strange drunk people in my kitchen i wanted to avoid that place like the plague so i did'nt have anything to drink before going to bed last night, making me quite thirsty this morning. So when i finished in the bathroom to get some water i discovered that there was still strange people in my living room. Why? maybe there were too drunk to find the door...maybe they are my roommates friends visiting for the weekend...maybe they found a new friend in our sectional couch. Whatever the reason it was it was just weird having strange people in my living room at 5:30 in the morning.

Yes i know i haven't been able to update. One word: camp. I didn't even know we had internet access until the last week and we had dial up. Gotta love that. So, if you periodically checked my blog over the summer, I'm sorry that the updates were severely minimal. And even thought i'm going to college (taking Travel & Tourism @ SAIT) I'll try to update whenever possible.

Success

Philippians 4:13 --- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, A loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.

Simply Amazing

This is some what alarming!

Think of a letter between A and W.

Think of an animal that begins with that letter.

Repeat it out loud as you scroll down.

Think of either a man's/woman's name that begins with the last letter in the animals name

Almost there........

Now count out the letters in that name on the fingers of the hand you are not using to scroll down.

Take the hand you counted with and hold it out in front of you at face level.

Look at your palm very closely and notice the lines in your hand.

Do the lines take the form of the first letter in the persons name?

Of course not.......

Now smack yourself in the head, get a life, and quit playing stupid games!

M4D SKILLZ

So this is my first blog as a 20 year old. My reaction? Meh, I'm over the shock of being 20. I'm still me and that's all you need to know

So today i was on our riding lawnmower cutting the lawn, listening to tunes when all of a sudden i thought "I have M4D L4wm0wr Skillz!" I KNEW i shouldn't have read Megatokyo before i went outside. That explains everything. I don't know if i should be shocked for relatively understanding L33t. And Scott, i can hear you shaking your head at me for thinking that.
